Indeed. I took out the blue plastic piece from inside a large Monster drink (it pops right out with your fingers) and cut it down to size. I pulled the end of the scope off and placed it inside, so it would be snug against the red piece. Unfortunately I cannot test it until I get the damn LED to light up. I have the batteries, but apparently it needs more tinkering, patience, and a screwdriver that will bite into those tiny flat screws. I think all I need to do is bend the leads in on both sides, so hopefully it'll work. TFSource was going to do it for me, but I wasn't able to get it shipped off in time.

 

. Wow these are epic pics Tcracker, f-ing awesome bro! I seriously wonder how Takara feels when/if they see pics like these... Apollyon fits with Mp10 incredibly well and theres no reason it couldnt have been Takara to do this first. Anyway, happy with my V2.

You see in TCracker's pics, where that silver tab inside the leg is pointing straight down? Out of box, the toy can't do that. It points backwards instead.

I don't really care about it. Yeah, it looks a bit cleaner. But there's a bunch of other stuff going on inside his legs there that I'm not bothered by its presence in the least. It's not in the way or anything.

 

I'm very curious to find out out if any Takara or Hasbro employee has ever gone on record praising or condemning 3rd party efforts. The designers absolutely must respect the talents of other designers. Right?

 

From a corporate standpoint, they have to condemn. From a personal standpoint, what little hints we've gotten on the matter have been mixed. Eric Seibenaler, for instance, apparently had Fansproject City Commander in his office, which could be glimpsed during one of those "insider" videos they do sometimes. Aaron Archer, on the otherhand, publicly condemned the practice on the basis of them leeching off of others' designs and IP. Of course, he's since gone on to be one of the head figures behind Play With This Too!, so either his stance on the matter has softened, or just a resigned "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em".

Both of them are old guard and are no longer with the brand. Don't think we've heard any private thoughts from any of the new guys.

There's the 3P ban from BotCon dealer rooms that's been instated a number of years, but I think that's more of a corporate covering of asses more than anything.

 

So what are the steps for this leg mod ?

Where is everyone getting the blue screw for apollyon? Does it come with the V2?

 

The screwdriver? Comes in a little baggie with the extra shoulder pieces.

 

xtransbot path way for takara to reverse engineer apollyon into masterpiece megatron v2 ..... 1 question though, can xtransbot sue takara if they were to copy apollyon?

There wouldn't be a point since they're already making the money off their design. By the time Takara could get theirs out Apollyon would likely be long out of production.

Plus there's the who IP can of worms with him being "Megatron"...

 

I received my Apollyion on Fri. from TFSource. I was only wanting him for display only due to what I've read and heard as far as QC issues. I was not planning on transforming him at all. Once I got this guy in hand my perspective completely changed. This is by far the best TF purchase of the year for me.
I'm happy to report that my V2 is in perfect condition, scratch and dimple free and everything is a tight fit, including the shoulders. It was packaged
very well too with plastic wrapped around everything.
Not as bad I thought to transform either and rather pleasing and fun to say the least. Still no scratches and everything is tight like new.
