I love your white Prime. Absolute thing of beauty.

 

I layered three of my vinyl logos. Gives the effect of molded logo. But from normal viewing distances, it's not that noticable anyway. I thought about 3D printing one, but then I would have to match the blue shoulder, and I suck at paint matching.

I was SO close to buying that youth sovereign to face off against youth stack. But when I finally went to pull the trigger, showz sale expired.

Wasn’t sure about getting this, but gave in and he arrived today (Youth version).
This is one of those rare times when the figure blows my expectations away.
Looks so good in hand, happy I made the call.

Now I just need Hasbro to release G1 Ultra Magnus in toon colours for the new Retro line and my little family of Magnuses will be perfectly balanced as (all things should be).

Still need to get myself a nice big toon Autobot decal to fill out the space on Toon Stack's shoulder. And maybe one of the chest upgrades people are making for Youth Stack.

I repainted the blue eyes yellow on the "Toei stoic face" and I like it a lot more than the included face with yellow eyes. I'm still "toying" with the idea of black eyes/shades instead though  

 

Ditto. Hoping it gets here by the weekend.

 

Is the QC similar with both versions? I already bought the toon version, but I couldn't resist the youth one either. Just wondering if there is a noticable difference in quality between the two.  

 

I have no attachment to the toy version and I never collect more than 1 mold per cartoon CANNON character. But it does look nice.

XTB did an amazing job with Magnus. Hard to see how it could be improved drastically TBH.

If TT does one, the transformation is likely going to be a better experience, but aside from that (and other gimmicks) really hard to imagine it.

 

Crazy question, but is anyone willing to sell one of the silver toy colored faces? I’m willing to buy it. Shoot me a PM if anyone is willing.

Nooooo! You gotta find one. As much as I love the standard decos, having the two toy decos next to each other gave me all the childhood feels... So much so that I had to post those embarrassingly terribad photos taken in the worst lighting ever  

 

Is there an easy way to get the shin panels back on the leg without having to partially transform the legs? I currently have them tabbed on the front of the tab but I hate that gap it leaves.

 

I think when we're talking this level of quality, if Takara Tony did release their own Magnus it wouldn't be a question of which is better but more of which is better for you, and replacing Stack maybe just be a lateral move for some people and an unnecessary move for others.

 

I swear I thought I had typed more in there. I had the same problem with the white panels on the youth version, but not the toon. The toon one, I was able to just manipulate the white panels around the peg and it was fine... youth version, I couldn't get space to do it without undoing the leg.

 

Yeah, I have the Youth version and there's no room to squeeze it behind. Okay, i'll just have to undo some stuff to get it back there.

3D printed shoulder missile mounts:

Anyone here not a fan of how loose the hinges on the shoulder missile mount are…especially when you articulate the arms…they become undone and flop around and don’t stay in place. It seems to be a common thing with this figure….every video I’ve seen…they become undone when the reviewer manipulates the arms or in truck mode.

I ended up remaking them with a tighter tolerances. I specifically re-molded the shape of the hinges so they “lock in place” on their own to hold their position for the robot mode and in truck mode. And even though they can “lock in place” the hinges can still move/rotate for transformation same as the existing shoulder mount  



I also made a 2nd (youth version). This one is a toy inspired…the missile plugs to the shoulder mount like the toy in robot mode via a peg.




And did a new back cover (back of missile) with an added peg. So now in truck mode..the missile can plug in the same front position as the toys.

(I don’t show in truck mode below to demonstrate but the side face of the shoulder is the front side in truck mode where the missile would mount like the toy)

This design allows eliminates the visible hinge/mount on the side as it no longer is required due to the plug method.

I also didn’t like the gray color…and printed it in white to better match  

*Is this something folks would be interested? I could probably do a small production run of both designs if folks find it worth to replace the existing?

All you have to do is remove the (2) pins and split the missile to install.
