Takara no longer can compete with 3p in terms of complexity, hardware and articulation. If it is not an Optimus or a Megatron, Takara is outclassed in almost everything else. That wasn't the case a few years ago though

Electronics? Ugggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh nooooooooooooooooooooo get that crap out of Masterpiece, it's already expensive enough as it is.

Doesn't XTB use unofficial impressions for their voice features? Like, their Prosecutor says something like "feed him to the shark robots" or some shit? Do not want.

I really like LEDs for the alt-mode headlights, too bad this isn't the case.

Closer to $300 I believe, judging by their DotM Megatron.

This thing looks outstanding- sculpt, articulation, engineering. Well done XTB! My current Mp Magnus's days are numbered now!
And speaking of the '86 movie cast, howabout a definitive Hotrod? Keith, make it so!!!

I respect the ambition, but Keith really needs to work on getting the basic things right like making figures that don't fall apart before trying to implement all these 'premium' features.

As chequered as my experience of in-hand XTB product is ... looking awesome gotta say.

Pretty much everything you'd hope for from a V2 MP Magnus - sleek, dynamic, toon accurate ... all in all, makes the proportions of the original MP look blocky, dated and cumbersome by comparison.

So can't vouch for the quality but if you want my verdict on looks alone then wow, basically

Looking at pictures all I can say it has better proportions and looks more streamlined resulting in huge improvements over official. What I don't like are extra things like light and sound gimmicks though. Sure they can make things more fun for some but not when they bring unnecessary 20-30% price increase. I may get it depending on price.

I also can't help but keep wondering what do "official only" collectors think of this. Do they still hate on things that look better in person than their brand loyalty?

I wonder what the real price increase of electronics is. I keep seeing numbers pulled from thin air.

Not much, unless they're attempting something super advanced like Bandai's PG Gundam kits with their UV LED arrays, with timing sequences and such.

Basic electronics, though, are "value added" gimmicks, costing virtually nothing to add (although relatively costly to retrofit, in the case of after-market add-ons), but make the final product seem so much more complete and "premium". See also diecast (when not purely structural) and high accessory loadouts.

It somewhat distracts the end consumer from the high pricetag due to poor economics of scale, where they appear to be offering "more bang for the buck". Omitting such extras would effect the price tag very little.
