Spring on mine is much too powerful.

It launches the head a good 25-30 foot every time.

I'd rather not have to take the body apart.

Does anybody have any suggestions on a fix?

That's probably something that you'll need to open him up for, unless you can somehow remove the spring without doing so (I have no clue, mine's still wasting away in a Pile of Loot). Either trim the spring down, force it into a tighter compression, or use something to dampen the spring motion in the channel to "soften" the motion.

I finally got a chance to take this guy out of the box and mess with him the other day, and I have to say I love it. This figure feels sooo premium. One of X-Transbots finest figures...quality wise. I own a lot of their figures BTW. So that’s all of the positive.

My only Minor, and I want to stress minor gripes is the spring for the Head Mechanism I can’t depress without a tool, and I wish the green was a little lighter. I suppose if they did a Repaint Alternate cartoon version that would be great. Cosmos was depicted with both a lighter and darker color depending on the episode.

You need to compress the spring. Look up TCP's video on the Titans Return Trypticon hip fix and use that same method. It's really easy to unscrew. You can unscrew his waist, which helps, but you don't even actually need to do that - just unscrew him with the screws in his butt, then carefully pull the top off (the green torso is in two pieces - if you just pull on the ridge of the ring around his neck/upper torso, it should come away easily, but it'll take a bit of pressure since it's held in with pins as well - just go slowly and you'll be fine).
I don't recommend cutting the spring though. Other than that, I just put my hand above his head when popping it up and it works fine.

    ---

While you're at it (if you decide to open it up), you can mod it to use the middle chest panel as a button to release the head rather than having to push on the inside of the chest cavity.
I haven't got around to properly posting about this mod yet but I'll do it quickly here and do a full write-up when I remember (unless someone beats me to the punch now that it's out there, but them's the breaks, I guess). Sorry I didn't get to this sooner - I've been so busy with work (and instead of working, I'm here typing this because I just need a break. And it's really hot at the moment because summer).

Basically, when you open it up, there will be a little (somewhat loose) blue piece - this is the button that you can see when you pop open the chest. On the back is a flat, rectangular piece that pushes on the latch, releasing the spring and popping the head up. All you need to do is pad this a little bit. I used some little clear door-stopper things we have some spares of (about 1mm thick), and it adds just a perfect amount of thickness so that you can pop it open by pressing on the chest panel AND the chest panel doesn't stick out like it does if you put the piece on the inside of the chest panel (as I previously did) instead.

Finally got this little guy in and he is Cosmos.... however, what is up with fucking XTB/KFC with their wide ass "A" stance or military attention straight up stance lately?! All their previous minibots had friction joints and were great for posing.
Getting of it, every new damn figure. Just make the thighs and ankles friction joints from now on please.

I think i found the problem,

There's an assembly inside the head that i tightened, two small screws.

Half a dozen firings since and the head hasn't popped off yet.

It's not that wide on Klaatu. If it bothers you, it's literally two screws to remove to take the ratchets out.

Ah, that would tighten the balljoint socket, thus making it less likely to pop off, and I did change the eyes on mine to test out the light-piping, so that might be my issue too. Thanks for the heads-up.

Well, that would be an interesting GIF meme, if anyone has had this unfortunate event happen to their Klaatu.

Just got mine, and darn if XTB didn't knock this one out of the park. Definitely an MP transformation and it's also super fun. If XTB can do this from now on for every one of their MP figures, dalianjj might have a heart attack.

So I was just about to contact the chosen prime to see if they'd heard anything from XTB about the missing exhaust ports. Opened my email first to find a message that they had received the parts and they'll be sent out with my current stash. Yay!

is Klattu supposed to be as big as he is in relation to other mini-bots like MP bumblee, BC brawny, BC Grump?

I find that he's pretty dam big. Can't really remember his proportions in the toon, but at least as a toy, I thought he was around the same size as bumblebee... could be faulty memory though...

XTB did an excellent job with Klaatu's size.

I love the size of Klaatu with my other Season 2 cast of MP "mini" bots (DX9 Powerglide, Toyworld Seaspray, BadCube Warpath).

They all size quite nicely together.

FT Seaspray is a bit tiny in comparison, for sure.

Best buy ever (and I haven't even transformed him yet). Managed to get him for £32 from e-bay using a 20% off voucher just after christmas.

Yes. In theory but then Kup came along and I made an exception which then widened to a pre-order of Fanstoys Galvatron which snowballed into making a new shelf and seeing Cosmos cheap on e-bay.
