Err, this looks almost exactly the same as the original.  

I just hope they fix the horrible gunk that was on the robot plant parts - mine stayed sticky no matter how I washed it.  

 

No, it's not the same: you can notice the metallic coating on the new one, also if light in the pics can't help so much  

 

I agree it's not the same - I was saying that they "almost" look the same. Because the lighting in each photoshoot is different, it's not immediately apparent how different they will look in person.

 

XTB as usual has FT envy. A couple of days after Metallic Brawn, and suddenly we got this.

 

Except that this would have had to have been in development before the Shiny Brawn reveal and XTB has had a previous metallic repaint release with their Dumpyard reissue several months ago. But yeah, sure. It's a Fanstoys thing.

 

I agree. It looks very similar.

Now, if I didn't have the original release I'd get this over that but it doesn't seem to be switching out for.

The original already had metallic flakes. This looks like the same thing just with a glossy clear coat over it, which admittedly looks pretty nice imo.

 

The original has the metallic flecks in the plastic, honestly looks like they just super glossed this new one. Pics may be deceiving though and it may be more than just gloss. If I didn't have the original, I'd buy this.

My question is, what is the "plastic barley" they said they removed?

 

The newer one certainly has a glossier finish but outside of that it looks almost the same. It isn't exactly something I would exactly call metallic. It's just an XTB cash grab like the so-called "Movie orange" Transistor.
It's more like a v2/reissue with an glossier finish. I think it's good for those who missed out and can't find the copies of the first run. For goodness sake I hope they'll fix the tractor beam pegging issue.

 

Maybe they can include more cows with this release.

I'm one of those who missed out during the original release. I think this looks good and I am liking the glossy/metallic versions more and more. I just bought Zeta's bot the other day but wouldn't mind having them both. I think I'm in on this.

 

Been waiting on this, just hope they fix that weird orange shin color before release
