So much enthusiasm for mail-away characters with basically zero fiction. Did you guys have these as kids or something?

They were a mail away figure in '85. I remember having one or maybe two of them, so I'll get them for the nostalgia factor but if you weren't alive back then they will probably have limited appeal.

Funny thing is, never had these. Hell, wasn't even alive for them. But they're certainly unique designs and very appealing. Will have to see if I have the funds for it though. A wait and see situation I suppose.

I got one as a freebie at this mall event where they showed the movie on VHS (at the time un released), and had a guy in a Grimlock costume doling out free omni-bots. I got Downshift, and in my clumsy kid hands, broke the arm, and cried a bit. My mother felt sorry for me and got me an Air-Raider toy at a nearby Kaybee.

I was alive back then, but I guess I had stuff that was mostly sold in stores.

Mail aways were huge back then. I still remember getting the Emperor Figure from ROTJ and Sgt Slaughter for GI Joe. There was something cool about a being a kid and knowing that you had a toy coming in the mail.

I hope the alt modes are the same size as their Stunticons.

I don't know how warped your mind has to be as a TF fan to think that this franchise should only be about characters that appeared in the cartoon.
How about being happy for people who were hoping these characters would get some love anywhere?

I remember staring at the insert and counting my robot points to try to mail off for the omnibots, but never had them. I can't wait for this.

I never said anything about the cartoon. I said fiction- they got nothing in the cartoon, the comics, or even much of a bio. You want them? Cool. But it'd be nice if XTB could finish their Stunticons before they start scraping the bottom of the G1 barrel.

I'm very much ready to get some figures outside of cartoon and fiction. It's time to expand some of that. And to start with toys that actually existed isn't a bad start.

I want to see how big these are going to be, but I'll likely get them regardless. Dying to see how the third one looks.

    MINE!
    Can't wait to see Downshift!

To answer the guy who was perplexed on the excitement.
For me I have always been more of a toy and comic guy. The toon was fine but really it was the 86 movie was the only stand out from the toon for me.
I was more fascinated with the toys that did not feature in the comics or the toon because to me they represented the rest of the universe. What did they do, where were they?
These three were another set of carbots that like Tracks had a third vehicle supermode.... the toys were just extremely exciting... but I also enjoyed MASK for a similar thing.
Add onto that the interesting history of the toys starting with diaclone and ending up as random delivered mail aways. The Omnibots were exciting

I had all three Omnibots from the mail away offer, and loved them! The car modes were well done, the battle modes were goofy as anything, but still fun.

I'm glad XTB is incorporating all the fun gimmicks the originals used. Those car modes are pretty sweet too. Hope we get an ETA on preorders for these.

Everybody had these as kids. They were cheap, and by far the best thing to spend robot points on.

The omnibots always have been in the first row on my G1 shelf and always will be. These will be in the first row of my MP shelf.
