... you mean, aside from making it "toon deco" in the first place?

Odd thought, why not just sculpt those details in as they appear to already have and apply paint?

Oh wow, I had not seen these, but ou baby, that is a really nice looking Ferrari. And a flying Ferrari at that!
So.. that's Overdrive, yeah? No idea who the omnibots are and no interest in them as characters, but I don't have interest in Tracksas a character either, but he sure has a nice Corvette mode! You know I bought the MP just for the car mode, really. And I got me a MP Deadend because he's a Porsche 924. I did not like any of the Wildrider cars very much. But I will 100% buy this if the car mode scales to the MPs, at least decently. Damn that's a cool Ferrari!

    This.

Seriously, though: it's like asking how to make a cartoon character out of a plastic toy... which is exactly what they did in the 80s. It's a simplification, not a complication.

Stylistically, it's pretty easy to "dumb down" a figure by removing detail and smoothing things out. Consider the "+" variants in the Lambo and Datsun Masterpiece figures. They just eliminate detail, minimize and de-metallicize the color palette, and occasionally resculpt a face. From an engineering perspective, it's more difficult to create a toy from scratch that hides all of the wheels and other mechanical elements, and mates up all of the panels so that the 3D sculpture resembles a 2D drawing. But to give an existing figure a "toon look" isn't very difficult.

It’s more like an approximation of hypothetical.

Flat panels and simplified with an amazing amount of junk hanging off the back?

Well maybe I guess. Idc I’m fine with these versions I’m just saying that’s what could happen if they went there.

No tampos, matte colors with no details, and then choose from:big diaper, completely inaccurate head/face, or gigantic backpack of the entire alt mode.

Yeah, I agree. My collection is MP-scaled and these don't fit, though I still think they're nicely done. I'm not a fan of animal alt modes, but I had a couple of the original deluxe insecticons as a kid and enjoyed them, so nostalgia might tip the scales in this case.

I’d be all over some Powerdashers if some third party company decided to make them.

    Looking forward to these Omnibots.

So what's the bet on what these guys will cost. I am hoping they won't be as hiked as Kup and the Menasor bits will be.

These guys look like they wouldn't be too out of place in an MPM display.
Don't have a clue who they are, but do they ever look good.

I don't think we are going to have to wait very long for XTB to come back to their senses. They are about to get their azzez handed to them with a lot of pissed off retailers. This is not going to be pretty. Either way they are losing a lot of customers. They have significantly damaged their brand. I hope they are happy. I am in on the Omnibots, Locke, and Virtus but I have no interest in their Defensor after this last behavior. I will just wait for Fans Toys who will also do Bruticus. XTB/KFC thinks that because they and FT are the last G1 ticket that they can just do whatever they want. That's not going to work.

Yeah, because FT aren't doing the same thing with their combiners.

There's a saying, "don't go ninjying that which don't need ninjied". The same can be said for ruining good designs with a need to cartoon them.

Let XTB make the figures they want in the style they want and those of us that enjoy as they are have them. You want something more toonthusiastic, wait for another company to make them.

That's what folks tell themselves. Sure, they're already reissuing combiner limbs with significant mark-ups but it's only bullshit when other companies raise prices.

This isn't to say I want higher prices, just that Fanstoys shouldn't get a pass for it.
