My Boost has arrived just an hour ago and I wanted to throw in my opinion:

Why did I have to go through that transformation? Why did XTB have to ship him in alt mode? The design is clever, but seriously, getting his arms out, rotating his hands or collapsing the back piece was a pain to do because of some really tight tabs and because of the small size of the figure. Some steps were frightening. And I still don't understand what I had to do fo form his feet...

Well, I've been very careful and, thank the Maker, nothing broke off, nothing has been scratched. I really can't complain about the plastic or the quality of the figure. Boost definitely looks the part and is a great addition to my S1 Autobots display. His size is perfect, in hand the chest colour looks nothing like the first pictures that showed up here. The blue has a nice, muddy and greyish touch.

After all I'm quite happy with my purchase. But I will never transform him back. MP Windcharger? - Check. Next figure, please.

 

Good to hear. I was going to wait but I was talking to the board member here who had one in hand and he was really helpful with information and pics so I left my pack on order.

Did you see the designers video a few pages back in this thread? I sat and watched it and it shows really well how to do the transformation...especially those feet. I'd recommend that because I think it'll help a ton.   Let me dig for the link.

Keith really needs to revisit the overly complex (for the size of the figure) transformations; especially in the feet and legs, which are often scary areas to say the least. The final figure may look awesome, but it's always the getting there that makes a buyer nearly tear their hair out!

Hmm. This is sounding more and more like a toy I'm not going to enjoy transforming. I hope that's not the case because I never end up keeping those. :/

 

The see people talking about the size of alt mode.

That is why I actually prefer the chibified transformers. It's supposed to be a TransAm, but Teletram fucked up a bit and it's chibified, that is why there is no way to compare it to the real world version.

Its alt mode and to be expected. Just looks funny as hell when they are together. Reminds me of the chigurh with any mp  

 

Yeah...but if you only display it in alt mode with Bumblebee and Optimus Prime you are probably ok. Funny thing is, Prime is actually more properly scaled to the minibots.

Maybe we should consider Prime a minibot from now on.  

 

clever transformation is when the transformation is simple and fun. takara has always been good at that. i cringe when people say complex transformations are clever or well engineered.

 

Absolutely spot on. I think it's perfectly desirable to sacrifice a little aesthetic fidelity to allow for an enjoyable transformation. The ideal is perfect bot and alt modes and a simplistic transformation between the two. Complexity should only be added when absolutely needed to reach the required bot/alt look.

Takara consistently hits this balance best, I think. Fanstoys are probably the best of the 3Ps, while Maketoys does a decent enough job. This is (one of the areas, anyway) where XTB badly falls down.

 

^^^I had a hell of a time figuring out Sunsurge. I hope Boost is nice and easy like the Takara Car bots.

Keith not only still sucks at QC (thankfully this is improving), but he doesn't seem to understand the beauty in an elegant but not overly complex transformation. His adage seems to be 'more is more', which obviously it isn't.

 

Holding out for the repaint, like the color scheme better.

 

What episodes was Tailgate in? I don't remember him.

 

God that looks good. Need more sports cars!
