Looks like white paper/cardstock behind the clear plastic to me but I'll let him clarify if it's any more involved than that.

It’s a piece of white cardboard inserted in the chest cavity.
@songrobin shared a build video for his force field effect on Facebook and mentioned the window in it.
It’s well worth watching his videos to see how he does the amazing things he does plus he’s incredibly articulate and informative. Probably due to his background as a pastor. Definitely recommend his “how to” videos.

Little late to the party on this one but if you need screws you can always try Menards if you have one near you. I had a Fans Toys that was missing screws from the factory and long story short, we went everywhere and couldn't find anything. My wife said lets try Menards so I did, not expecting much. She asked some guy in there and in the screw aisle they had two big cases of what they called "micro screws". They were those bins with drawers and the screws were in little plastic bags.

I found some that were the perfect size for Fans Toys in thickness, thread and length...I actually stocked up on all kinds for future bots. Anyhow, if you need some and you have a Menards (and we live in the middle of no where so it's hardly a GRAND Menards or anything) you can probably get what you need there.

@songrobin What did you use for the blue chest window piece?

Awesome! Yes, please let me know if you need anything; I'm happy to help. Could you please double-check on those gold-reflective hexes? They appear to be stickers and not actual acrylic (I don't want you to buy the wrong thing by accident). As for the glue, I personally only applied a single application of Plastic Weld and it seems to be holding up fine; I can lift the entire weight of the shield with a single hex. I'm sure if I put a 2nd application, it would be even stronger. I'm also interested in the ideas of adding LEDs -- especially the idea of blast effects that ricochet off the force field (which should be pretty easy to do); I'll see what I can do!

Yes, I used a piece of white cardboard, but regular copy paper should work fine. I recreated the file so you can just print it out yourself. Just download the JPEG and print it (you can toss it into Word as an easy way to ensure it will print at 100% size).

Awesome!! I think the mirrors are acrylic with adhesive on one side and a mirror finish on the other but I'm not sure.
I've actually given more thought to it overnight. I think at this stage I may just assemble the shield using the clear acrylic hexes, mix some Tamiya Clear yellow paint into some Future and paint/dip it for a yellow/gold effect.
I can then use some darker yellow or gold as a wash/panel lining on the joints between the hexes to mimic the "energy line" effect. Easier than trying to do LED's for me because I don't really have the capacity to wire up stuff and batteries don't last long.

Would hopefully give a similar effect to some of the 3P add-ons I've seen:

Any pics of the toon version of Hoist or a release date yet?

Given the amount of 3P reveals over the past few days I'm surprised there hasn't been any update on Paean. Did Xtb have a display at that toy show by any chance?

To those who have both the original and toon version of Aegis, how do they compare in quality? Any improvements over the original? I only ask because I actually got the toon version and am kinda blown away by how high quality it feels in hand, much more so than my original Paean. I'm not a stickler for hardcore toon accuracy, but if their new version feels as good as this guy, I will gladly swap out.

There's been a show this weekend in... China? SGC2019, where lots of third parties were present showing off their latest prototypes. Xtb had a display of their Stunticons but haven't seen if they had any other figures. Fanstoys, Dx9, Toyworld and a bunch of other companies had displays too.

I'm guessing no updates from Maketoys' RE:Master line of Headmasters/Targetmasters at this show.

Just found this thread covering the event:

    SGC 2019 official brochure

Doesn't look like Maketoys were there :(

Basically, in addition to what XTB listed as improvements, the new one is a lot tighter, things fit together better, etc, etc.

I must say, I was initially skeptical about a V2 Aegis. But after having him in hand I am so happy I made this purchase! His articulation is a bit lacking as the elbows only go 90 degrees and there is no ab crunch, but man, he looks the part standing next to the likes of MP-44, 45, and 20+, and I really appreciate the updated shoulders, hands, and additional faces. The charcoal gray is gorgeous in person and a lot darker than I feared he'd be.

At this point I consider MP Trailbreaker done in my collection. I really hope Paean is as good as this guy!

Other than what they did with Trailbreaker, the only other "improvement" they can make with Hoist is including a version of the horse and knights from Badcube's.

I'd also expect the colors to be vastly improved. The orange on V1 is too pale, the green is a shade too light, and the stripes on the side of the truck were disappointingly transparent.
