Now we have a $130 shampoo bottle with the “premium” logo slapped on.
With knee and hip articulation. Made of ABS instead of PVC.
I think you will find most folks will point out that they will pay for the figure, just not ten dollars shy of their Perceptor's price. Their Punch/Counterpunch has three modes and is thirty bucks less than this large action figure.
And some collectors are willingly scammed out of their money.
this is only $10 more ffs. It transforms.
Blast effects for figure lasers.
Pfft, I think soap bottle is kinda selling it too boldly, haha. Thing's between that and a plastic cup.
EDIT: Shit I thought you were still talking about X-Frank LMAO, but if XTB keeps going without any extra stuff, it might seem like for the price this thing ends up like a soap bottle.
As long as XTB doesn't fail on the quality, the TF MP community will be lucky to have this option.
Disagree. Price is out of control, in my opinion. But I am happy some are getting what they want. Hopefully there is no articulation or quality issues at that price.
EXACTLY. Thank you. This is a large action figure.
I have to get the parts out of storage, but I will.
I personally don't see it as fair for a non-transforming figure, when they have other figures that can transform for less. People have been quite vocal to XTB about unwanted electronics and lights hiking up the prices, and it seems we're echoing it again. At least chances are good it may quickly hit clearances, like Dr. Egg did, and maybe even Le Poulpe. However some folks may enjoy it at that price point, so have at it! I'm definitely still interested in this, but will wait on a price drop, if any, unlike Dr. Egg, which despite the price drop, I still personally see is too large.
i just PO’d TE Optimus for $70. It transforms. Almost 1/2 the price.
Fair Price? LoL
...and it's freaking awesome!!
I mean, you do you and there's no wrong answer here but for me, Autobot Spike is based on Frankenstein's monster and what pose fits Frankenstein's monster more than the base pose the Blue Lobster figure is in?
But, different strokes for different folks......whatever you or anyone else prefers in their own collection is the right answer.
Thanks, my guy. Really appreciate it. It's rough but I do my best.
You know now that I think of it god dammit I gotta go back to either pen and paper or getting myself a full-on goddamn drawing tablet and actually trying to be good at it LMAO.
But yeah, again, while I have a PO in with the hope that will see more soon, that price is still fucking STEEP.
So what WOULD make it worth $130? @ibot @Grifter Prime Feel free to take notes, my friends...
(Green = Already Confirmed by XTB)
(BTW I wanna thank Hasbro for uploading the show so far on YouTube, so I get free Transformers episodes and screenshots as material for shit like this LMAO)
Extra faces (Shouting, Smiling, Dead Stare, Straight/Stoic/Standard, Smirk)
Telescoping claw arm (should be able to be longer than the stock photos show)
Gun (connects to the side of his right arm)
Gun mode Megatron (able to use hand's LED, see below for more info)
Blast effects (Arm cannon, hand, headlight)
Operating table & generator display base (with wires to connect to both Spike and the generator)
LED effects (Head, feet, both hands for blast effects, headlight, right hand LED works like MP-08 Grimlock did, so he is able to light up the Megatron gun above; Static, strobe and pulsing options, also works with sound chip below to work with blast sounds)
*Blast sounds* (Causes LEDs to respond appropriately, think of Toyworld's Freedom Leader as an example of what i'm talking about)
"I'm not like Prime... I'm a monster! A metal... Frankenstein... monster! With enough power to conquer mankind!
"Good! Let 'em come! More enemies!"
"Yeah, man! I'm getting to like this powerful robot body of mine!"
"It's getting harder and harder to think!"
"We'll make 'em all pay for what they did to me! Pay real bad!"
"Belongs? Belongs?! It belongs here! In this mismatched Frankenstein body you guys gave me! Well i'm beginning to LIKE it in here!"
"Hahahahahaha! Man, i've got powers I haven't even discovered yet!"
"Yes... Yes! Now's my chance to destroy THEM!"
Head - Ball joint on an extendable neck that's on a swivel to allow for neck articulation and further head articulation
Arms & Shoulders - Double-jointed elbows, full shoulder rotation, butterfly joint, up/down swivels, outer swivel at shoulder for the arm
Legs - Thigh swivel, double-jointed knees, full ankle rocker
Torso - Full swivel, break that shit up for a more extreme ab crunch, teapot hinge
So yeah, I think there's a lot more that can be done with Autobot Spike here, and if XTB really wants to charge $130, they should really go all out and show that it's not only worth $130, but another bang for your buck release like Perceptor.
All of that sounds amazing. Instant buy in my option. How do i help make this happen?
Actually if that happens i might buy two
This guy is literally the same price and transforms.
Can't wait to see what ends up making the cut, was gonna be getting this guy regardless but this I think only means an even better end result. Happy to, at least indirectly, lend a hand!
Hmmmm I dunno. He's a big guy, and even without transforming there's still a high parts count in a fully articulated robot. But yeah I have to agree $130 is a bit nuts for what is shown so far!
I agree with some of what you say my man @ThatGuyCalledBlaster, love your face suggestions particularly! As simple as those pics are, you really manage to capture some personality and emotion (of the tortured kind, lol!).
On the other hand I think rather than making this some super premium set full of gimmicks to try and make it worth $130, I'm personally thinking this is just Autobot X - just keep it simple and make the price tag cheaper! $100 tops. Let's not get into sound chips, please.
If you're listening and there's time, @ibot, @Grifter Prime, here's some feedback that would help sell it at least to me. It seems very little has changed since the old prototype - I cant spot much more significant changes than the removed curvature on the front of the thighs and the removed lines on the right outer lower leg. Could still use some tweaks, imho...
- The nissan chest part - I understand why it's done that way - it looks like the real car part and the MP Datsun bros. But then in this modern era of toon accuracy it looks a little off. Who knows the MP Datsuns might get a re-do one day? Keeping the realistic chest part but just tilting it down somewhat would help capture the character's look more, imho.
- I personally really don't like the broken looking appearance of the knee joint from the front. It has an MP-11 vibe! MP engineering has moved onto thighs that cleanly sink into the lower leg, with the principle joint at the top of the lower leg rather than above it in the bottom of the thigh. You can achieve so much with a well placed single joint, like MP Megatron, Starscream, Hound, Sunstreaker, Arcee, or a natural nice looking double like Prime V3
- I like Thatguy's suggestion of top articulation. Although looks like it is pretty much there already. Butterfly shoulders would be nice. Then again - this is Autobot X here!
- I don't get the thinking behind accentuating the screw holes with raised rings around them on the arms! Looks like he's covered in craters! Or some nasty warty disease.
- I like a seductive curved Megatrony shin as much as the next guy, but Autobot X doesn't have one
- Maybe a slightly more compressed face and/or stretched forehead to give that Frankenstein look. Not like the side profile view in the toon model (oh my god!) but just a little more
