The 'rumors' are just that there was a third summers brother, he was part of a team that went to bust out the original 5 from krakoa before giant sized x-men #1, and the entire team "died". Then they sent in the 'new' x-men Three issues in, its somewhat interesting if a bit slower paced then I'd like.

(had to edit due to my bad info)

Thunderbird didn't die on Krakoa. He died in the all-new, all-different X-Men's fight against Count Nefaria.

I am really enjoying Deadly Genesis, its too bad that this storyline isnt running in either uncanny or X-men, the two primary X-titles that have had horrible writers ever since Morrison left. I think Marvel knows most subscribers will buy the primary titles regardless of how horrible the writers are, so they put the good writers on auxillary titles we will have to buy in addition to the primaries. It kind of upsets me, as I cant seem to summon the fortitude to end my run of uncanny or X-men.

In Deadly Genesis #4, the mystery villain is revealed to be "Kid Vulcan" Or now just "Vulcan" a member of Moira's Student team that Xavier recruited to rescue the original X-men. He also called Scott Summers his brother.
