I've been rearranging my shelves this evening, and in the process started fiddling with G2 Ransack (http://tfu.info/1994/Decepticon/Ransack/ransack.htm), a TF I've loved since I got it as a kid.

That got me thinking - other than Ransack, were there any other TF's with WWII aircraft altmodes? I know there were several Gobots, but what about TF's?

My fanboy wet dream would be a set of Starscream, Skywarp and Thundercracker in the Ransack mold.............hey, I can dream.

Yeah, but that wouldn't stop WWII molds of 'Con jets--hell, if anything, it's a good reason to do it!

I'm not aware of any other TFs--just the Gobots you mentioned--but I'd get a kick out of 'em.

All that came out of that was Titanium Megatron. He was supposed to be a German maus tank. That figure was the worst in the line, hands down.

And it still wasn't an aircraft.

    Heh, I wish.
Though if you really want to get screwy, I guess Titanium Series Megatron (the first one notorious for having floppy as hell arms) is based on that TF/GiJoe WW2 comic. They obviously couldn't do a gun, but his bio places him in that continuity. Maybe if Titanium Series was still going we might potentially see some more. Or possibly to go with the Universe 2.0 gimmick of having realisitic alt. modes we might see some historic alt. modes like the WW2 planes. We can dream right?

Yeah..he linked to that in the first post. It's what led to this thread in the first place.

Anyway, yeah..I don't think there are any other WWII fighter plane TFs..the one plane from the Giant Planet minicon team is close, but it's a jet. It could pass for a prop plane if it had the propeller though..

Ahh, G2. Bless you for changing the names of a lot of the toys between countries. I clicked on the Ransack link to see who it was, and it turned out to be a toy I already have, only called Blitz.

actually... there were helicopters, because japan was said to have the first combat ready one, by 1946 if we had kept the war going until then. *supposable* that is.

but putting that aside... it's fiction lol.

g1 bruticus was made up of ww2 guys from a reckage that starscream put back together, and magically became modern day shuttles/tanks/choppers/jeeps/what ever onslaught is* lol

No but Vortex body is forged from old WW2 airplane. Ifyou watch the G1 episode Starscreams Brigade you se that all Combatacons original forms are of WW2 stuff. The form however gets alterd when Starscream puts in their personallety files. But tehnically they are WW2 vechiels. Its a long shot but still ;)

Yeah, it's a real long shot, especially since that only happened in the cartoon.

I'm wondering about Sunrunner. What kind of plane is he? He's a straight-wing four-prop plane, so he might possibly be WW2, although I wouldn't be surprised if he's a slightly later model.
