Oh hey, I needed something to listen to while finally stickering up my Hyaku Shiki. Might as well listen to my questions being answered!
I guess I should also answer my question. I don\'t have the budget to buy them, but I think the Devil Saviour stuff fits with what TJ mentioned with RotF Mixmaster. They\'re painful to work with, but in a way, that becomes a perfect metaphor for Revenge of the Fallen? The closest toy I have messed with that I think fits there is RTS Perceptor.
Seems to be just PodBean. I'll keep an eye out, but I have no idea how to fix potential issues with that app specifically.
Pre-Prime Wars Figure I'd love to see redone: T30 Springer. I'd love to see the current design team try and capture that IDW aesthetic. Also, literally all of the WFC/FOC toys. Proper Voyagers for Prime and Megatron, as well as a Voyager Onslaught would be dope. I should have waited until the end of the segment to post this. ha. Toys that I respect but don't enjoy transforming also sorta goes to the WFC/FOC toys. Bumblebee in particular was a gorgeous vehicle mode but i absolutely hated going from one mode to another. Prime was slightly less stressful but only by degrees.
Pre-Prime wars? I would like another crack at PCC, but not the weedy limbs we had, but what Maketoys did. If you don\'t recall they made a single partner vehicle made of sturdy limbs in a couple decos. Granted only 2 really stood out as good core figures.
Listening to this on the way into work this morning, Aaron's bit about 'theoretically someone listens to it' just hit me. I know it was said in jest, but I wanted to say; as nobody, I really appreciate the time and effort you guys put into this. I've been listening to [email protected] since the first episode back when I was starting college and you all have been a constant presence in my life through this podcast. Countless hours of entertainment for which you have charged me a grand total of $0. Thank you all for the work that goes into this. I hope this doesn't sound like a weird para-social thing, that wasn't my intent.
I'd like to see Generations Thunderwing get redone. It would interesting to see how Hasbro would handle the Mega Pretender concept, especially now considering they're not shy about bumping things up a price point to increase the parts count
Interesting question on the "Grave of the Fireflies" transformations. I'm not sure if I have an answer for that. I always thought Energon Slugslinger was a bit of a mess. I've never understood the rap that R.i.D. Sideburn is some impossible puzzleformer. His legs fold up, and then his arms fold up under the front and then the roof of the car. I've never found it difficult at all. But I could see how it could be difficult, much like I'm sure there are those who find Energon Slugslinger easy Oh, I may put BeastWars Tripledacus on the tough transformation list. Specifically the beetle which forms the arms. Lots of things you have to orient correctly without clear indication of where they go. I always had to trial and error my way through his transformations.
One thing to put the conversation in that time in context... There were a healthy chunk of fans coming back to the fandom with that 2001 series that may have skipped the Beast Wars era and instead would have had G1 or G2 as their last transforming robot experience. And that's a VAST gulf in technology and design languages.
legit I keep forgetting that there are folks who skipped most of the beast era & then got flung into "Beast Wars Neo with car modes", haha
