What happens when you worry about posting too many podcasts in a row & still suffer from weird lockdown time dilation? March disappears! haaaa anyway I'm gonna stop worrying about that & plan to just post the next few episodes over the coming week as part of a larger effort to gear my brain back into the regular passage of time!
Great episode as always! Listened on my way out of town to a new toy store I discovered. For the listener that talked about burnout, like Vangelus said there's never any shame walking away from the brand for a bit, it's certainly a lot cheaper. But depending on what you DO collect in the line, it's good to remember that transformers is a huge brand with a lot of iterations and you can always go backwards to collect things that you missed out on. Even if you're hesitant about a particular segment, if there's one figure in the line that really resonates with you, it might open up your opinion to other figures and it'll feel like discovering something brand new. Additionally, transforming robots is not unique to transformers. There's tons of other lines out there that could invigorate some interest. Tobots, Brave, Shinkalion, Drive Head, Daigunder, Webdiver, Phone Braver, Dairobo... etc.
I had to share this with you guys. I recently got this part to fix my Switchblade. It's a nightmare opening up the toy, but there are decent videos on YouTube to fix it. @Secretcode the editing weirdness is present in this episode also. It's especially bad at 22 minutes. At times I can barely understand Aaron. It seems to hit Vangelus less so maybe it's something on the recording side? Idk. Just saying something because you asked me to. Edit1 For the sake of testing I checked my podcast settings in case I had silence remover settings on and I did not. Edit2 I did just try listening to the file in chrome instead and it seems okay so it might be on my side but I don't know what it is.
Okay. So it's not you. It's me. The silence reduction settings were not set to on, but since I've written my fair share of buggy software I decided to do the inverse of the usual advice and turn it on then off again. Well that fixed it entirely and it sounds great. Great job editing @Secretcode ! Sorry for the false alarms!
Overhyped figure was definitely TF Prime Breakdown, I got it after a long hiatus and I’d heard nothing but glowing reviews of this incredible figure… In hand, it basically sucked. It’s a floppy mess of panels that can’t hold a pose, let alone it’s weapon, I had to repaint it as the paintwork was terrible, and while it’s not an awful figure it simply was a massive massive letdown after waiting to get one and then discovering how flawed and meh it was.
Collector burnout is a heck of a thing. I remember sitting in my media/collection room, surrounded by walls of those cheap, nasty, walmart bookshelves (you know the ones) just crammed to bursting with robots. Every time I saw something new I had to have it and it was added either to the shelves if it was good, or the storage bins if it was bad. I knew I was burned out but I wasn't ready to admit it. To keep this short, external factors gave me a reason to purge and I purged hard. Roughly 95% of what I owned went, those ugly bookcases went. After I was done I had medical bills paid, I'd bought myself a new TV, a new game console and finally managed to get a full set of the FP Dinoking shells. I was left with a much smaller collection but a much nicer collection. I no longer feel compelled to pick up entire waves, no more impulse purchases. I control my collection, not the other way around. Unfortunately I did this right as Detolfs ceased to exist in the western united states so now everything is in boxes/totes. Not ideal but one day hopefully I'll be able to actually display stuff again.
