WTF @ TFW - 592 - August 31 2020 Aaron and TJ sit down with Vangelus to talk about Hasbro Pulsecon (before the event), stacks of scattered toy news from the last 5 years of 2020, and a big whack of fresh on-topic What We Got This Week that needed an actual intermission break before we got it started. It happens.) 00:03:53 - Hasbro Pulsecon Announced (for America, guest-starring Canada) 00:18:58 - I Guess Kingdom's Just Leaking Everywhere - The Neverending Dripfeed - Masterpiece Starscream Version 2.0.2.0.a.11 01:47:23 - What We Got This Week iTunes users - You can subscribe to and review the podcast here: iTunes Store Zune user - You can still subscribe here, I think: zune://subscribe/[email protected]=http://wtf.tfw2005.com/feed/podcast The RSS feed can be found here, with a link to the show file: WTF @ TFW Transformers Podcast - TFW2005.com Or you can click below. Me three days ago: "It took a few weeks of commutes, but I'm finally caught up on [email protected]." Vangelus: "Hold my beer."
I hate to be that guy, but the amount of salt at the beginning kinda bugged me a bit. I think the weird viewing limitations to US and Canada is weird and dumb, but everything was leaked. I feel like going "why should I watch, we know everything" feels a little unfair to the people who worked hard on those things. I don't wanna get down on you guys, because I am most likely coming off as an asshole, but ehhhh, it sorta rubbed me the wrong way.
Omg Vangelus' Cyberverse Arcee conundrum is literally me with Studio Series Overload! I see his price whenever he's in stock on Amazon and always say "I should've preordered."
Glad u guys are still around , we\'re like 130 years old now. Cant type, i\'ve fallen and i cant get up , need lifecall
There is a reason why the coneheads' knees are so weird: it's the same reason Smokescreen has a stupid head, Red Alert has shoulder wheels, and Hoist has the arm flap things, Floro Dery! Basically, when he made the designs for the season 2 characters he tended to lean far more toy accurate than the season 1 characters, and this even applies to characters who are recolors of season 1 guys. If you look at those animation models and compare their mold mates, you can tell there was no kind of cross referencing done.
Yeah the MMC Impetus (vortex) is so damn good. He’s the one who amazed me most cause of all that really creative reconfiguration into such a beautifully smooth robot. Also that bludging visor is something I’ve never seen attempted and it looks so ALIVE. I’ve kinda figured out how to better compact the tail rotor, but that’s defo the most under-designed aspect. Much like the shoulders on Incursus (onslaught). I was surprised by how great Volatus (blast off) is, although I find it weird that he’s not very popular with buyers of the set. I really need to buy Probus (brawl) now. But also gosh Kingdom looks really cool innit!? My favs are Cheetor and Blackarachnia right now. So I defo wanna buy them. I’m not really interested in Rattrap, but I think I just don’t like his colour scheme. I’m hoping that the Arcee is actually just a Ratrap retooled as Arcee.
Vangelus Hubcap was technically my first mini-bot as well. However, for me, it was G2 Hubcap who was red and since I was six watching old tapes of G1 I thought he was Cliffjumper. Now I know the truth but I still consider Cliffjumper to be my first mini-bot. Plus he was voiced by Casey Kesem.
I am much more down with G2 Megatron in the spirit that it doesn't have to replace Siege Megatron. If he sucks, he's not Megatron, he's just an idiot inspired by Megatron like a lot of quasi-Primes. If someone makes add-ons to make him suck less then he can be Megs. Personally, I would laugh my head off if no one touches him in this age of rampant upgrades.
I'm super into the Nemesis Prime. In ER I dug the trailer, but thought no roller was the problem. Then Hasbro resolved it in spades and now I freaking love it. What I really wanted was Prime to have stuff and the trailer hold it all for him. Having him hold all the Autobot stuff in that set and be the team's mobile armory is my child dream. Back to Nemesis, he's getting all the recent Nemesis stuff, plus new stuff, and a trailer that one ups the POTP version by holding it all without undoing anything. A new head would be cool, but I already feel he's a complete package.
Was really enjoying the podcast until you lauded and encouraged theft. What the heck? Just because Amazon is big doesn't make deceit and theft ok.
I heard one of you mention Pulse Premium was changing. I've heard the theory but cant find any info. What there an article or link for that?
In regards to how early leaks can happen. I found out one of my friends from WoW/FF14 works for Hasbro (I think in accounting). When he found out I was a transformers fan, he told me he could help me get stuff with his employee discount, and the word "samples" was used (I can't remember too well, it was a million years ago... like February before the plague started). He was able to get me a few toys super cheap before he had to start working from home, but his selection was limited to what they had in the office employee store. Anyways, perhaps people like TonTon have a friend (or friend of a friend, cause I was never go public with a sample my friend sent me without permission!) like that. Also, since said friend works in accounting, no, I don't have any inside info on new stuff. We chatted about distribution one night but we were both really drunk and I think we both forgot everything.
