I listened to this and just started watching Cyberverse as a result. Two episodes in and I'm already annoyed with Bumblebee more than I ever have before. Ehh, it can only go up from here. EDIT: Ok, I'm 10 episodes in and I think I'm sold.
I wanted to make a few points. Some apply to Siege, but this is mostly Cyberverse... - I haven't liked a Prime voice performance since Animated. Didn't like Cullen in the movies, Prime or RID, don't like Jake in Cyberverse or Siege. It all has the same "no contractions so I always sound like I am making a very important speech" vocal pattern that I just can't stand, anymore. It's like every voice director watched the battle for Autobot City in Transformers the Movie and decided Prime has to be THAT serious, all the time. Granted, most of that is the writing and the voice direction, but my point is it's not the lack of Cullen, because his performance bores me, too. - Concerning great characters in Cyberverse not getting toys, one thing I loved about this show is that any character who wasn't getting a new toy featured a design based on an existing toy for that character. Perceptor was his Universe tank design, Chromia was her T30 motorcycle and Cosmos used the Legends design that came out in 2 different lines. So while you may not be able to buy Cyberverse branded toys of them, you could easily take existing toys and use them for a Cyberverse shelf. - I would friggin love to see IDW do a limited run Cyberverse comic that pulls on some of the story threads introduced in the last few episodes. - Introducing and then immediately killing Megatron X is some Game of Thrones Season 8 crap, IMO. I don't blame the writers, per se, but a threat that big needs room to breathe and grow. I felt cheated by the final episode, if I am being honest. Cyberverse is still probably my favorite TF series behind Prime and Animated. Whatever comes next has BIG shoes to fill and Rooster Teeth would be well served to try and poach some of these writers for their Snyderverse take on Transformers.
So I'm a bit behind in listening to this but I love Cyberverse and the two of you have gone over most on the reasons why. So thanks for this podcast! I enjoyed Prime a lot and even RID15 for what I was, but I haven't been engaged by a TF show this much since Animated. I'm glad we still have two "movies" left to go. I like Siege ok, but I'm really going to miss Cyberverse.
