Did you remember to do that one question from 551 that the guy wanted both shows to answer? Or did you let everyone down?
re: the episode picture, it was one of the first results when I did a google image search for "fake helicopter"
I have some trepidation with pin hinges and rivets for the opposite reason; it's a lot harder to fix if they didn't do it right. I figured out I don't need to coat the ball, just the pads inside the socket so it grips better. I've even drilled out and pinned broken parts I've glued together, but pins hinges? Those are hard, especially if they don't open on both ends so you can't knock it out.
Yeah that picture is a very well done photoshop. one of the Golden Gate Bridge supports is in the background.
An idea that might helpful for the person who asked about confidence handling TFs: Get a $10 pair of readers. A little magnification never hurts.
Great episode! Sorry to hear about pet health issues. One of my best friend's just had their cat pass away. It was very sad. Otherwise, awesome stuff and I'd totally buy a podcast shirt, like the Helicopter one.
I would definitely by a "Helicopters Are Not Real" t-shirt. And a service where you get a shirt with a random collection of words for "WTF" would be amazing. It would be like "Yes, I got the Wombat Tactical Facility shirt. But I heard Amy got Weary Tarnished Flavor."
Also, in response to what Chris said about getting more confident from repairing toys, that actually happened to me last weekend. Toyworld's Orion took a dive off my shelf and snapped his head off at the neck. I was devastated (cause I love that toy) and I couldn't just slather glue on the joint because it still needs to turn for transformation. But I took a second to clear my head and then came up with a game plan. I used a specific super glue that works better on plastic. Then waited patiently rather than jumping to test it. Later I loosened the screw on his head allowing his neck to turn much more easily. I have to be delicate during the transformation, but it still seems to work. It might seem simple, but throughout I was saying things like "Remember not to use much glue. Wait until it's fully dry. Wait until you have the right glue for the job. Be gentle with how much pleasure to apply. Remember that you can loosen a joint without taking it apart." All things that I learned through a LOT of trial and error over the past 4 years.
Ps @Vangelus @Seth Buzzard @theothertwowhoseuserhandlesidonotknowbutprobablycouldifispent30secondslookingbutimkindofanidiot.... when’s the Bee discussion coming?
