On that note:
I recently (ie: today) upgraded to a MP3 player with video capability, however it is neither an iPod or a Zune. Do I have any hope of downloading a file that will let me see all the pretty pictures?

 

Only if you transcode the M4A yourself  

My Sansa eSomething has software that will transcode to its format, and it says it will handle m4a, but I haven't bothered to try it.

 

Tried that and it didn't work. Of course, the M4A also refuses to play in even Quicktime...gonna try again. Thanks.

 

Ah. Well, there I go. You saved me the trouble  

My 98se box with VLC (some old version) will display SOME of the chapter pics, but the latest VLC (even on this XP box) won't. I'm ... still scratching my head over that one, since the older version doesn't even have chapter support.

I resorted to playing m4a's in Quicktime, and if it happens that I go somewhere and want to take the latest podcast, I just take the mp3 and I'll worry about the pics later. Convenience, thy price tag is not iPod

I like that people are not omitted from participating in the podcasts when they dont presently have the dough to keep up with what is being released at the moment. its part of being a collector of something that while pleasing is not necessary. it isnt even about being broke, sometimes you focus on other goals in life. i did that in 06 and henkei has been saving/punishing me in the last year.

If everyone on the podcast where on fire because they feared missing a preorder i wouldnt be able to relate.

 

To be honest, you can be a Transformers fan without collecting the toys.

Tried again with a different Podcast. First, I just clicked on the M4A link without downloading, and it started to play just fine. Downloaded....and not working at all again. Maybe something's wrong with my comp, but I think I'll just have to live without the pics. Oh well.  

As for the podcast itself: It's another instance of I'm sure the other people at the gym were giving me funny looks I was laughing so hard. Glad to have the gang back together.  

 

That's pretty much were I am these days. Actually have been since the first movie came out. Classics/Universe has been the only thing I've really gone after and I've saved soooo much money. At my peak I was spending up to $200 a week on TFs (mostly buying G1 on ebay, but that included Energon and Cybertron) and now... maybe $100 a month on average? And that's only because I bought 3 botcon figures for around $100 each in the last two weeks.

tl:dr At some point you can learn to collect with your eyes, not your wallet.
