So I posted my entire Takara reissue collection of Transformers on ebay last month and now I got a message from them saying they cancelled my auction because I was selling a gun. WTF?! They are truly run by idiots. I am selling a MISB G1 Reissue of Megatron you stupid jerk monkeys!!! Learn the difference between a Transformer and a gun!!!!!
You're not gonna win that one. They're well versed in replica laws, and Megs fits the description. They have plenty of experience dealing with G1 Megs and take down listings probably daily.
Did they actually claim it was a weapon, or was the notice about that whole Federal law thing? eCFR — Code of Federal Regulations Ebay clearly isn't against look-alike weapons that comply; there are currently over 36,000 hits for "airsoft" alone.
There is an easy way around it. Open the picture in a paint program and colour the tip orange. Problem solved. Just note in the auction that it has no orange plug. That's why your auction was cancelled. Megatron does not have that orange plug that the us/Canadian government require on toy guns.
or i dont know, maybe understand and know the rules of listing certain items first before ranting like a lunatic?
Whenever I go to make a Transformers listing, I get a message at the top warning about selling any version of G1 Megatron that turns into a gun.
Are these re-issues or Encore series? If they're Encore send me a PM, I'm looking to complete the collection and need many still!
I've seen a couple Encore Megatrons slip through the cracks and complete their auctions. I was checking some out to see if I could get away with selling one on there too. Now I don't think I will.
Repost the collection as a whole, omit the Megatron from the pictures, and tell people that the winning bidder will receive a FREE Takara Re-Issue Megatron (not pictured). That's what I'd do. Edit: Actually, leave the pictures of Megatron in the pictures and state that he is NOT FOR SALE WITH THE LOT. Then note that the winning bidder gets a FREE MEGATRON. Fuck you, eBay - there's always a backdoor.
I see many MP Megs selling on ebay. I guess they let it go because it's in robot mode in the package. If I ever get to the point of selling my Takara then I guess I would post the main pic with an orange tip photoshopped on it but post links in the body to the correct images.
I'm guessing because it could be a MISB collection, in which case he'd have to crack it open to transform it. If he's selling for value I'm sure something like that would kill the value he's looking for it.
Simple solution. When you take the picture, just have Megatron's box so only the pic of him in robot mode is showing. Or just not show Megatron but say in the auction that G1 Megatron is included. Anyone buying the auction should know what G1 Megatron turns into.
Saw several listings on Ebay of G1 Megatron in gun mode (no orange caps at all), here are some of them: 1984 Transformers Megatron Walther P-38 G1 Generation 1 Hasbro US Edition In BOX | eBay Transformers - Vintage G1 Megatron in Original Box - First Generation - 1983 | eBay G1..TRANSFORMER..MEGATRON PARTS LOT!! | eBay Dunno why they cancelled the TS' listing.
