Hey guys,I haven't seen a discussion group like this, but if there is one could a Mod merge it.Anyway lets talk about 3P Planet TF's namely Unicron and Primus, but would you be willing to shell out $300 to $500 for near perfect representations of these characters from the movies and shows.

The way some people here just plop down up to $600 for combiners like Not-Devs then surely there is room for the two largest (screen-wise) characters to get made into MP Style figures.I realize Hasbro and Takara put out similar versions with head remolds and different paint, but honestly those are nice but what kills it for me is all of the kibble on the legs and back.I just want something where most of that is done away with, whether partsforming or not.

Everyone has been yammoring for 30+ years for Unicron and I guess 10 or 15 years for Primus but I think its about time some 3P started thinking about doing these. What do you think?.They wouldn't have to be huge just maybe 2 feet tall in robot mode.I sure as hell would buy them if they were in that price range what about you?.OK guys tell me what you think.Later.

Probably not, at least for me. They wouldn't really fit anywhere. I'm more comfortable paying $300-500 for combiners because A.) I'm not paying that all at once and B.) They have a semblance of scale. I'd sooner buy Titan Class figures, or a vaguely-scaled Unicron head.

I think this would only work and look proportionate ( and im not talking even being in scale seeing as Unicron would need to be house sized ) if you were to make one at Masterpiece combiner size but to fit in line with legends i.e DX9 war in pocket etc.

Would I? No, but to be fair I admit to no longer being among the MP fanbase. That being said, I wouldnt mind a new Unicron to replace my Armada one that I have in my legends display. Truth be told, even within legends scale I'm not sure an accurately scaled Unicron is possible thanks to Titan Metroplex and Fort Max already being as big as they are.

you should poll this, and of course! Obviously not "in-scale" but "in-style" and Gen Metroplex+ size, sure!

Ironically I was thinking about something like this within the last week; but it was in the context of those 'extras' that accompany MPs to cater to different 'scale' enthusiasts, (that I think I am, as I recently got back into the hobby of collecting... "enthusiast, not purist"). I think it would be nice to have:

    1) micro-machine size TF space ships (similar to the Micro Machine millennium falcon, but perhaps a little smaller), for the quintesson, junkion, autobot & decepticon ships from the movie and a Unicron halloween mask and/or outfit the size of Shaq, as I think that'd be scale for ships to break into the opening of the mask's eye. An adult could wear it, or thumbtack it to a wall.
    2) WST already scale very well w/ the Fort Max's & generations metroplex (legends scale is a little too big.. I mean, I just LOVE the look of my WST Optimus molds on the streets of the metroplex). And while there are various KO's for the WST combiners, it would be nice to have the complete suite of combiners in that size done.
    3) as an extra for a MP styled Cosmos, why not include something similar to a blow-up kiddy pool and a blow up lid for it (that obviously makes the shape of a UFO) so you could have the regular MP Cosmos that scales in Robot form w/ other MPs and then you have as an accessory, a play-set that MPs could actually be in. It also makes for easy storage, as you bring it out when you want it, and deflate it when you don't. I mean, its just a bunch of plastic and would fall in line with the typical MP price.

As an aside (don't really want to qualify it as #4, as a halloween costume for this would be too goofy, but would definitely be in scale with a human, but)... did anyone ever wonder what the planet of those giant aliens from the G1 transformer episode* would look like compared to Unicron, and/or how that planet (i.e. their adults and whatever military they had in place) would fare if they had to combat him?

*the episode where the alien kid and his cat, with TFs like, Optimus, Bumblebee, Perceptor, Thrust, Starscream, Soundwave in it, that he trapped in various places around his room.

    Hmmn, possibly for Unicron.
    Primus? meh.
Unicron's head is one option, or a really substantial sized Unicron that transforms really nicely - the Garatron one looks kind of cool.
As for Primus... did he ever actually feature in the G1 cartoon? I thought there was some vague guff about him being Cybertron and that was about it? What would you even base his robot mode on? Most of the comic interpretations are kind of a shiny knight-like dude in a suit of armor with a sword. Maybe you could base it off IDW:

I would be in for a MP style Unicron. Thinking ahead though, if FT Omega sells well enough that Metroplex, Scorponok and Fortress Maximus could become a reality one day, Unicron should be at least their size.

An MP style Unicron would be awesome, but too many people would get caught up in the scale not being anywhere close to what it should be.

There was a brief discussion about this in a thread somewhere recently, a few people pointed to a transformable figure with a similar design to that awesome Unicron statue being a good idea.

3a or someone might bring out a giant non transformable statue one day, and Garatron have their version (too stylised for me, when I already have the armada one).

I'd definitely be up for one as a display piece, 2ft tall and looking like it stepped out of the movie would be aces!

Oh god here comes 18inchcombiner, oh well, anyways, i think I'd be okay with unicron being at least 25 inches at the most, to at least be bigger than any transformers ever, I don't really care for any others, except for like a small ball that resembled lithone, then I'd be a little interested in that.

The episode was called "Child's Play". Was kinda of a fun episode too.
I would be down for a Unicron that was 24"-30" tall. Wouldn't know where to put it, but I would want one.

I'd not mind a sculpture of the Planet Cybertron and also Unicron on a nice stand - they don't need to Transform - just be super detailed.

This is something that I've been pondering for a while, because I would really like to represent Unicron in my MP collection. Scale is obviously the biggest issue, so I'm thinking maybe just his head? There's that one by Fewture, it's as G1 as you're going to get, but the price is prohibitive. Even on sale it's usually 250.00+, which I think is just too high for a plastic head, feels more like a 100.00 item at most.

I would be more interested in a wall sized poster of Unicron to get closer to scale but not need an extra wing in my home. As far as a toy goes the Armada version is enough for me.

I dunno if I can really justify the amount of money even an Omega Supreme sized Unicron would be.

I've considered this as well. A giant Unicron in planet mode FatHead would be ideal.

MP Unicron. At some point possibly but not until the 3rd party well runs dry and there are no other figures for them to make. No on Primus under any circumstance. I am good with the Cybertron figure.

    I honestly don't know.

They're too big to be in scale and that's a huge deal for me plus, I'm not a big fan of these characters.

I guess I could end up buying them if they were really good looking, not to expensive and including small Mighty Max kind of figures representing the major characters.

Ehhh at the end of the day planet formers suffer due to their very nature; they transform in to large plastic balls. And that's it.
You've otherwise just got a big kinda ok looking robot but its going to suffer from lots of planet kibble. And I just have no interest in shelling out big money for such things.

I'd much rather have a like, voyager sized unicron instead if I'm gonna get something so dumb.
