Would you still buy a toy you really wanted if you found out it broke very easily?

Because such a thing has stopped me from buying certain toys that I've wanted.

    Are you referring to MP-09?

Depends on the character. And if there was an easy fix after it broke.

it might limit how much i'd spend on it.

but i still have a g2 slingshot. so it doesn't stop me. every toy is easily broken, if you think about it.

MP09 rocks, and he broke straight outta the box for most. I still got one and its one of my faves, the broken shoulder was an easy fix.

It depends how much I like it. For example I bought MP-9B despite its fatal flaw, I fixed it, and I love it.

How did you fix it? I was never able to find a tutorial on the boards about fixing the shoulder, only the knee.

I'd also really love to know the answer to this question!

On topic, I have a couple of pretty fragile toys. The Perfect Effect RC mold is one I've been warned is fragile, but I'm just super careful with her. My Aranea came to me broken (and badly repaired) right out of the box.

If it can be easily fixed, I would still buy it. But if it's something worse, like say GPS or a quality control nightmare, then I would steer clear of it.

    Depends on;

    The character?
    The Price?
    How fixable it is?
How nice and faithful it is to it's source material?

A most coveted figure which is likely to be broken easily but if fixable will almost certainly be bought. Like MP-09 for instance, my favourite mp after Soundwave. Whereas a character that I absolutely loathe, like huffer (Cubex) will be an instant pass particularly at the price he is going for.

Nope. Only because I'll be apartment hopping for the next few years and wouldn't want to risk packing/boxing/unboxing/displaying on a collapsible shelf.

When I have my own home with permanent displays, absolutely!

I bought G1 figures knowing some were fragile..... and had to replace a few. It's worth it.

    Depends...

Is it easy for a kid to break..or does it explode just by touching it?

And they never broke on me

This thread seems to be directly aimed at owners of MP-09 and figures with GPS.

I would say no. If it were to break while trying to be put on display, then what would be the point of buying a figure? Unless of course you can REPAIR what broke easily.

If I want it, I'll buy it...
If it's something that's known to break easily, then I'll just try to find a nice quiet spot in my display for it, and try not to mess with it too much...
I got lucky with MP Rodimus, but I don't handle him too much out of fear...
When I bought Transmetal Megatron a few years back, it crumbled when I tried to transform him...So I went to EBay and bought him MISB, and added him to my display that way.

If it was a GPS issue I'd just get a redeco of the figure. If it was something that just broke due to design, I'd wait and see if there's a running change.

Got TT MP-09 v1 despite all the breakage reports. I've never transformed the guy, which I guess is a shame, but he's so beautiful, screen accurate, and I can get so many amazing poses out of him, he's well worth the price. One of my favorites.

No, Worst case I had was I missed the thread when I bought the Rodimus Alternator since I bough it years afer it came out the door snapped right off.

I wouldn't have spent the money if I knew it was going to snap.
