It looks just as ridiculous as it would be to see a G1 styled Prime in a live action movie.

Damn, I'm fucking brave to say that.

It's amazing how if the poll was made BEFORE the first movie got released, the result would be inverted.. I remember people complaining about Transformers not looking like transformers (and the red flames).. now everyone loves them..

its beautiful Old school Gundam, the way it should be! It has nothing to do with transformers though, I'd like to see a Gundam live action though!

    YES!

Main problem with the movie designs is they are so boreingly safe and predictable. Ever sense the film Alien in 1978, filmakers have used H.R.Giger's insectoid biomechanical style as visual shorthand for most anything alien...Its such a tired and overused style...And the live action Transformers films follow it blindly, substituteing tiny car bits for bone bits stuck all over...hardly creative or original. Just "alien robots" in the most dumbed down way possible for the mindless popcorn munching masses.

That's a mighty big brush you're tarring everyone with there. I for one liked the movie designs before TF1 came out, as did a lot of other people around here.

Jazz has "some form of a human hand". And the other guys I haven't heard of. And I was talking about the movie, not the toys. And...nice try :)

Blah blah blah blah..... The Transformers designs may have visual cues from HR Giger, the same way basketball players take cues from Michael Jordan. Save Megatron, and the Fallen, none of the designs remotely resemble the mechanoid monsters of HR Giger.

Predictable? Rather obviously they'd be somewhat predictable, THEY'RE BASED ON EXISTING CHARACTERS, but I doubt most anyone would have guessed the designs before the first movie came out. Sideswipe, Demolisher, Rampage... IDK what you're talking about, it's an opinion, but it comes across as you trying to sound intelligent, cool, and in the know, but ultimately failing.

    "Boringly safe and predictable?" *Sigh*

motorcycle sisters are in the sequel and are anything but bipedal. they're in the movie too-look behind Sideways when he transforms-those things chasing him are Autobots.

So, to avoid them falling into one cliche...you would rather them fall into another one? I agree that the HR Giger stuff is a bit over done, but I think the designs in the movie are a LOT more visually interesting in that. I like seeing them in silhouette and knowing immediately who the character is.

That guys' silhouette just screams "generic robot". Not even Gundam, just generic robot. A lot of the original (not all, but a lot) Transformers did the same thing.

Nope. I like the Movie bots. And this 'OMFG MAKE IT LIKE THIZ!' was thrown up 6 times a week in 2006 when everyone kept posting links to that fake sideswipe transformation.
