Would you have bought Siege Prime knowing there was an Earthrise one coming? I'd probably have waited given how similar the two are in bot mode.

 

Yeah. I still prefer him to the Earthrise version and probably won't be buying the Earthrise figure.

 

I buy every Prime knowing another, likely better one, is coming soon. So yes.

 

Yeah, they are different enough plus I don't know better and I exibit and live with poor self control when it comes to Optimus Prime.

Just another Optimus Prime I don't need to add to all the other Optimus Primes in my collection.  

 

Yes, Siege has a better bot mode

 

After seeing er prime I bought the animation style Siege prime. I don't like the bulky chest and the look of the hip joints. Also I don't want a trailer ever.

 

Might not have if I was just told "an even more G1-looking one with a trailer is coming next year", but if I got some good side-by-side photos before making the choice, I would've gotten Siege prime.

 

Yeah, each complements the other.

 

Yeah I still like things about Siege Prime better, primarily I think it has a better looking robot mode. I’ve grown to like its truck mode quite a bit also.

Now, if I knew about the ER Datsun mold was coming I would have passed on Prowl (but still get Barricade).

 

Without a doubt. I love the Cybertronian aesthetic. Even though the Earthrise Prime is superior in many ways (IMHO) there will always be a place for Siege Prime in my collection. I'm actually waiting to see if we get a Netflix EX Siege Prime coming in a future wave, 'cause I'll be one of the first in line to order him!

 

Optimus Prime will exist in every line. Question does not compute!

 

I said at the time I expected a major earthmode retool with a very similar robot mode.

In fact, I said that I thought the battle damage was there to make the Cybertronian versions easily distinguishable.

Now, did I expect poseable fingers and more leg movement? No.

But I bought it with a clear idea of what it was.

My disappointment is a lack of Cybertronian Jazz, Wheeljack, and Bumblebee. Though I'm ready to buy earthmodes of Siege figures I own.

Truth is, I skipped ALMOST everything outside the 1984 characters in part because I expected to re-buy what I was getting in earth modes.

I'll tell you what I have zero regret about though: The Rainmakers, Redwing, Hotlink. I want to own seekers and the ONLY seekers I want to own in earthmode are Starscream, Thundercracker, Skywarp, Dirge, Thrust, Ramjet, and maybe Air Warriors and Slipstream. I only want other seekers if they're Tetrajets because they aren't earth-based. It's always driven me nuts seeing Acid Storm and Sunstorm and others as earth jets.

 

I did not want the seige version and kind of suspected that earth modes would be the second phase of the war for cybertron series and skipped the seige one with the way hasbro is focusing on g1.

That and i wanted one with a trailer , i know the earthrise prime has a small trailer but at least it included one which is better than nothing.

 

Would I have bought a wannabe Cybertronian Prime if I knew there was a definitive chug G1 Prime with an actual trailer that splits open to become a battle command station coming? Hell no.

 

Heck yes. Had a good year out of Siege Prime (and this fantastic repaint) and that was worth it to me..

 

While i enjoy the chest proportions on the siege prime i would definitely skip the siege one if i knew a better earth style prime would be coming out a year later
Also i hate the cybertronian alt modes and the war battle damage

 

I always look at people a bit side-eyed when they say they didn't know an Earthrise Prime was coming, since there's a new Prime every year and they telegraphed that WFC part 2 would be Earth modes. It's exactly why I avoided buying a Siege Prime right from the start. Though I did end up buying the cel-shaded edition because I figured they wouldn't repeat that deco on the Earthrise.

 

I was initially going to skip Earthrise Prime entirely since I already had Siege Prime and he was already more than G1 enough for me.

but, finding ER Prime for a decent price, and learning he wasn’t a remold of Siege made me cave and buy him.
He’s decent. And has his own good points. But I honestly feel like Siege Prime is the better of the 2. So if I had to chose which one to re-buy if I lost both and was only buying 1 again. I’d go with Siege.

It's not the same with other characters. I'll not (re) buy the ER Megatron, apparently they're making the datsun again, I'll pass etc.

But prime, no issue.

 

Yes, happy with Siege Prime and have no reason to get the ER version. Love the Siege aesthetic and wish it would have continued longer.
