If they made a Leader Optimal Optimus and then retooled it with just a megatron head no other paint changes, would you get the Megatron
So basically this thing from Beast Machines? Well they are going to have to go through a lot of other characters from the show (Botanica, Savage Noble, Cheetor, Silverbolt, etc.) before I'd buy it but it would help add to a CHUG Beast Machines shelf.
Probably not. If they did a Megatron version, it would probably be as a convention or store exclusive.
YES! I have been wanting that exact figure since I saw it in Beast Machines. They did release a repaint of that mold in the Beast Machines toy line with a new head but as an entirely different character who has nothing to do with the cartoon. I don't care about Primal Prime I want Optimal Megatron. And then the Titaniam figure which has no beast just like Megatron but for some reason is still an Optimus toy. Why? Hasbro makes an entirely new mold that would be perfect for Megatron and they give us a crappy Optimus instead. By the way, it is a little more than just a new face. Optimal Megatron is also missing the Maximal insignias that Optimus had molded into his shoulders. The gorilla head could just be removed because Megatron doesn't have a beast mode. And the chest plate for beast mode would also have to be remolded because the front tire for tank mode is held on by that piece. Gotta remold it so it's not so obviously a gorilla chest.
or they could do what they did with RiD2000 Megatron, they used the Devil Gigatron mold which had other modes but just don't put them in the instructions. they can do that with the gorilla mode
No. But I would be interested in a new version of this design in the current leader-class size. Better colors too. The original colors were fun at the time but they are genuinely garish. And TM2 Megatron too in current leader-class size too. Thx.
But there are parts that are specific to other modes that really don't need to be there if it's not intended to transform that way. Kids would be confused if there's a random ape head on a toy and the instructions just didn't tell you why the ape head is there. Plus it saves them on plastic and paint costs if they just don't bother including the beast mode head. RID Megatron is kind of an oddity. Technically speaking he is a retool of himself. Galvatron/Devil Gigatron was a remold. Parts had to be altered in order to add the extra four modes. Gigatron could only transform into his original six modes, this version of the mold was never released in the U.S. so we got a Megatron that is actually a Galvatron repaint giving him the ability to transform into four modes he doesn't have.
it'd be easier to just have a face swap gimmick. or make the base mold a Titans return Leader. and sell megatron seperately as a Titanmaster with a vehicle that transforms into a Diagnostic drone
