So would you buy an official Has/Tak MP Motormaster?

Not a compromised combiner torso, but a dedicated MP Motormaster with all the trimmings and *phwoar bloody hell that's sexy!* factor?

I love MP-10 as Nemesis / Black Convoy, and that upcoming 3P RID Scourge MP style figure is a must buy for me, and it got me to thinking how cool it would be to have the 3 awesome bad-ass black colored trucks/convoys with an official Motormaster.

And if yes, what art style/era would you want him to look like?

 

My only interest in the combining teams is the combining gimmick so no.

While it wouldn't be a true 100% Motormaster in light of missing the combination gimmick, I think the sheer engineering challenge involved would be for the best if there was a stand alone Motormaster for the character, and later they do a ROTF Devestator Legends type deal to produce a Menasor with a simplified Motormaster torso for stability reasons. Menasor isn't going to even be possible on the MP scale without ridiculously robust (and expensive and heavy) joints that would eat up a lot of mass on Motormaster alone.

Motormaster has always been my favorite of the Stunticons ever since seeing him appear for the first time in The Key to Victor Sigma.

 

An MP10 comparible Motormaster means:

1. Tiny Cab to achieve same Bot size. Or

2. MP10 sized cab that makes a Bot much bigger than even Magnus.

Making him a stand alone and uncombinable would probably turn off at least half of all potential purchasers.

I would go buy option one just to actually have an MM for Optimus to whale on, but I know the kind of unholy Hell that would get raised if TT ever actually did it.

 

I don't feel like Motormaster is an interesting enough character or enjoyed enough on his own to even be considered for the Masterpiece treatment, not even considering inevitable licencing issues. If it was just a non-combining Motormaster in the MP line, no, very much not. If it was a combining Motormaster and there was plans for all the Stunticons, still no, because the cost of individual MP figures is high enough that a chunk like Motormaster that would cost ~$200 and 4 cars around ~$70 or so a piece would be absurd to me.

Those reasons aside, HasTak still isn't ready to take combiners to the MP scale in my opinion, just on an engineering level. Combiner Wars, although for kids mostly, is the most recent attempt at gestalt-style combiners, and that didn't work well enough for me to say they're ready to do Masterpieces that combine.

 

Mp 2 was hardly cartoon acurate. It was definitely takara trying to get more mileage from mp1 but it was lazy and a failure imo

 

Nope. Don't want a combiner figure that doesn't combine. That's just silly to me.

No. I passed on Universe Onslaught for the exact same thing, non combining combiner team leader is just... not right.

 

MM would not be the same if there was no combining feature, so I agree to a 'no, not interested' if he's a standalone figure.

Also, weren't the Stunticons written/designed (in the toon storyline) to be a combining team as part of Decepticon strategy to mess up the Autobots?

 

No. The whole point of the Masterpiece line is to improve on the original figure's features/gimmicks. Removing his combining capability would ruin it.
