Well good for you. You recognized you were buying too much, and are making changes to reduce it. I wish I had the will power to do that, but my selfishness demands more. Like if this was to happen we would have two of a 5 member pretender combiner team, and thus I would want more that just them. Which one was the pretender pig? Maybe we can ask for him to be made too. And thus my selfishness grows.

 

No I would want them to use Tigris as a base for Chainclaw since Chainclaw is a bear and Tigris would make a more convincing bear.

Edit: On second thought I don't think the bovis or tigris mold would work well for this guy.

 

All jokes aside, I've been thinking about this, and I think Leo Dux would make a better Chainclaw. The Bears massive enough to be the center of the combiner if done right, just a new head and paws would be needed. Felisabre can be his arm. Snarler can use Fortis's mold with simple changes to make him more pig like, and Carnivac is thin enough to be the left arm with a different head, paws, and tail using the Tigrs mold. I know He's not a pretender, but Horri-Bull could easily be made from Bovis. Extra points if MMC made him a headmaster too. And since this is before the war, they could be put into the reformatted line as the Feralcons who washed out of the program, and Felisabre recruited them for revenge. We lose the wings, but some of them had huge cannons they carried around which could possibly take their place.

Just spitballing, so tell me what you think. But be careful I'm sensitive, and cry easy.

 

I honestly think it would be smart of MMC to just not go back to the feralcons molds for a while. They have so many other projects going and people want those way way way wayyyyyyyyy more than any redecos or retools of feralcons. The sooner they have their Catilla, Elita, Solus, FQueen, Nova, Nemesis, Overlord, Vos, Tarn and Sixknight out the better. Heck what even happened to their Greatshot and Shadowmaru SG redecos.

 

Ideally I don't want anymore combiners for a while, like few years while, but its fun to speculate who they could make from these molds. I would hate to think my suggestions stopped someone from getting Seraph, or Azalea, or Carnifex. That would suck. But since I'm playing pretend those were what came up with. An ugly mismatch of colors to challenge Rex for his throne, and lose.

 

Remolds of the rest of the Beast Pretenders from the FR crew is a pretty good idea IMO.
But yeah, maybe not now - get the current offerings out first, then put out not-Snarler, not-Chainclaw, and not-Carnivac. MMC could probably get away with releasing a not-Grotusque (Felisaber mold with the wings) if they wanted to make a new combiner set with wings.

 

Hell yes I would buy chain claws but I wouldn't stop there, Snarler from the same tooling, with the inner shell drill head. Talon and Tigis as wingspan and pounce. Then finally with a bit more retooling Leo Dux as carnivac. B list predacons form Predabaron.

 

Hey, if 3rd parties want to be more like Hasbro that is their choice. But they will stop getting my dollars - I'm not paying $100 for what is essentially a TFCC quality Chainclaw. Just the way it goes.

I'm not into 3rd party prices for halfway homages. I can get those from Hasbro for much cheaper any day of the week.

As it stands I'm not particularly pleased with the way they did Headstrong and Tantrum anyway.

 

I would sign on just to see how they do it. I've been impressed enough with their work so far to want to see their take on Chainclaw.

Interestingly, with Felisaber already in the mix that's two pieces out of the five overall for a new combiner, as others have pointed out.
I'd be interested in a second MMC beast-gestalt depending on the level of remolding.

 

I agree with Dek---use Leo. It could be made cheaper by stripping off some "unnecessary" parts---the shield, the cannons, tail, combiner head.

 

The Pretenders would very much be a slippery slope for me. I feel like if there were good options from some, then I'd simply just want the whole line-up.

I like the idea of making a Chainclaw homage, but I'm not sure if the bull mold is the right base.
