would you be in for an anime reboot?

Far too much IDW influence for my taste, I want that period scrubbed from memory as much as possible.

I'm just going to stick to the stuff IDW did or popularized that made it into the generic lore because I don't want to derail this into a general IDW bashing:
    • Decepticons as revolutionaries who were forced into becoming violent because of those mean old Autobots.
    • Megatron as a former gladiator
    • Every Prime except Optimus being some manner of villain.
    • Optimus Prime being a bland speech dispenser instead of an actual character
    • Cityformers being ancient relics of a bygone era
    • Shockwave being a scientist
    • the Enigma of Combination
    • Galvatron and Megatron being separate characters even though Galvatron still looks like Megatron
    • Caminus and associated characters

What you would propose instead ?
Sentinel was fine in Megatron Origin, later stories would overplay his bad side
    Agree
Again what do you propose ?
    Wasn´t that Dreamwave´s idea ?
1: We already have characters with very similar bodies being different entities, what´s the problem in applying that to Megs and Galvs ?
So no Windblade, Nautica, Victorion and Mistress of Flame, why though ?

I don't really know if you can lay this one at IDW's feet. I think it's more something that originated with the live-action films, to be honest.

Instead of Robot Lenin, Megatron is Robot Napoleon or Robot Caesar. The Decepticons are his supporters in the military who want Megatron in charge instead of the Autobot civilian leadership.

Military innovations developed during the war, Cityformers are specifically parallels to WMDs.

    IDW popularized it.

I don't like Galvatron being a separate character from Megatron, period. If you're not going to have Galvatron be an upgraded Megatron, you might as well replace him with Bludgeon or Straxus.

I find them boring and overhyped.

I suppose that ties in better with the whole goal of galactic conquest
I dunno, im not a huge fan of Combiners and Titans being simpy something they can create, seems OP to me
Even so, him being a scientist fits with his whole "logic above all" approach does it not ?
As long time travel ain´t involved it´s fine
but can´t they be made interesting ?

It's a galactic war, both sides are supposed to have superweapons.

I still don't like it, it's way too easy to turn it into "and then this gimmick appeared because Shockwave invented it for some reason." It's time to bring in more Decepticon scientists.

They had their bite at the apple, I'm done with them. It's time to move on.

They are ? Seems like a nightmare to write about
Ain´t that what Furman did ?
Thunderwing created Pretenders, Scorponok created Headmasters, Jhiaxus....i don´t need to explain(oh yeah he created the Micromasters), come to think of it, what gimmick did Shockwave even create ? I only recall him creating Ore-13, from what i heard later runs would have twists where Shockwave was behind everything, but that´s on them for absuing it instead of using more other Decepticon scientists
I would still give them more chances, TF has so many characters that were and are continually wasted

You asked me why I hated the current general lore, and I have just told you.

Why does Caminus have to be the planet of the fembots? Why can't female transformers be integrated into Cybertronian society from the start instead of confining them to some lost colony?

Because Furman is the one who started IDW 1.0, he sees the TF as basecally genderless, after his run was over he was replaced with writers that disagreed with this vision and tried to retcon things so they could include fembots in the comics

Technically, Caminus isn't all-female. I think IDW Hot Shot's from there.

I'd be in for just about anything that does something new instead of digging into the 80s themed rut the franchise is stuck in.
If it would take an anime reboot to get that, than I'd be on board.

The original RiD and Unicron Trilogy are what started the franchise down this path. And then the live-action movies cemented it.

Megatron's gladiator origin comes from the comics. The gladiator battles were to promote goodwill between the vastly different Autobot cities, many of which were filled with corruption. Megatron's charisma as a gladiator and strength as a warrior are vital to that interpretation of the character.

Way before IDW, Liege Maximo--retroactively considered a Thirteen member--and his "anti-Prime," the Liege Centuro, were in the G2 comics. While the Fallen was in 2006 comics, I'd say that the Bayverse is what popularized evil Primes. I'm not a fan of it either.

Shockwave was always a scientist. His rank is Military Commander, but like Air Commander Starscream, many of the Decepticon elites were scientists and scholars, hence their superior technology. Shockwave is the inventor of the space bridge in G1.

I agree with everything else that you said, but I'd give an IDW series a fair shot as long as it fully commits to being IDW.
Fair point. I was mostly referring to the style and tone, but I also don't want something like Prime Wars Trilogy where they can't decide which interpretation they wanna be. An adaptation would be an opportunity to correct plot and character contrivances.
