i would be very excited for it to have a new director.
I would love to see a new director take up the mantle.
I don't know if a reboot is a good idea or a bad idea commercially - they take such baby step building the Movie Universe it seems a shame to kill it before it gets to stale. I think they can let it run till the end of the decade perhaps then reboot it.
Heck it might just carry on forever like Bond evolving slowly overtime for all I know so long as it's making a shed load of money.
It is after all doing well against or along side the comic book movies it's accepted by the general audience - it gives Hasbro a schedule to work around and many people are likely to have seen at least one of them by now I would suspect.
They could back pedal backwards a little on some aspects but a reboot isn't needed from a commercial perspective at the moment.
Besides I trust Hasbro no more than I do Paramount or Bay personally with the Transformers franchise conceptually at the moment - the wrong people are in key positions at the moment I suspect - I consider Rescue Bots not sucking more to do with it being invented before the change of staff than any conceptualisation on the behalf of the Hasbro team.
That they crammed so much merchandising into Rescue Bots latest season - but as the show was so delayed it was all utterly wasted is a bit concerning perhaps - but that was the same issue with Prime and another example of Hasbro not being a very sensible company of late.
I honestly wouldn't mind, as long as it's Transformers and it's decent I would not mind, unless it was a horrible adaptation I wouldn't care.
I don't get angry over movies. I'm a grown up.
Video games on the other hand are a little different.
Well if its TF5 it wouldn't be a reboot - they couldn't call it TF5... but anyway, I like the idea of rebooting it and putting it back more like G1 or any other series we've seen. Beast Wars is another option though that's more like a spin-off series they could do. The current movie series is getting rather stale.
As for a new director - I'm open to it depending on the director.
As long as a Beast Wars movie wasn't live action I don't think it would be that horrible.
Let me preface this by saying that I do not care for Bay,at all. I'd be EXTREMELY happy if a new director completely rebooted Transformers. He could fix all the epic brainfarts Bay created.
Eh, I could see a live-action version working - or just a CGI-fest. Would just need to be 1 film to cover the basic plot of the series of the two sides battling it out.
Very true my friend.
It would depend on how AoE ends first.
And sports teams. I'll stab someone over that.
Honestly the Cons faces are closer to this in the movieverse than the other material. I think beast wars could work, though a giant kaiju transforming into a robot would be... interesting. You know they'd go the kaiju route... I doubt they'd have a normal sized Primal... he'd have to be like King Kong...
They more I think of this, I hope Beast Wars never happens in a blockbuster movie. They'd just mess it up SOO bad people would be pissed forever. Not to mention... how do you pull off a live action Rattrap? If he ain't in it, Beast Wars is pointless.
Yep this- if they actually tried to plan all 3 movies so they mesh together this go around, I want to see it through as they intended.
It would be neat however if it ran the toys out of stores like the joe movies did I would rather keep what we get that is g1 themed they pump out from the money from the movies.
As long as there is good reason for them to look different in the movie. IE - they needed to scan new forms to maintain the "robots in disguise" credo.
