Their love for hindering the hand articulation and the recent sculpting on movie figures makes me not trust em very well.

WJ have 2 types of quality. High end stuff which seems to be fantastic in every way, and budget stuff which feels like budget stuff.
Well this is my experiences anyway.

WJ hardly ever has QC issues and crazy paint for a good price. I'm probs not the guy to comment further about comparable companies, I don't really know my stuff. I just get something and go, ye I like it. Feels good looks good..

I'm sorry I've joined this thread so far... Anyway these are my 2 cents.
There's still space there for another g1 OP, it's the gap left between TE and TT. According to my personal point of view the alt mode is even cleaner than te and is worth the purchase. However we've no clues about butterfly joints on shoulders (which makes both TT and TE very posable and above all the crouching position shown is horrible. The path for correct leg position has been shown by latest TT toys, mp op bb and hound (and sunstreaker in a less way). If we compare them to this model it is automatically disqualified from a potential substitution on the shelf.

Said that.. I've still not purchased my new op so I'm open to new models.

Although the transformation will not allow for a Hound like hip rotation (MP-44's joint is not worth it in the long run), this design could be altered to have crotch flaps that allow for more natural poses and higher kicks. The shoulders are a bit basic in their structure, but that can be upgraded in the future as well. The sides of the torso connecting to the shoulders would be difficult to redesign, but the shoulders themselves have not major moving pieces, so the butterfly joint could be housed inside.

That's nice to heard. As I said, I think there's always space for a new op.
Anyway what I said above is something "basic" to be considered to make the figure appealing; other than this there should be a non-trivial process relevant to quality of joints, plastics, paint application which is nowadays more and more stringent and is less related to the designer and more to the factory itself.
Let's not forget the following epic fails:
    - sunstreaker from omnigonix
    - hotrod movie from (don't remember)
    - all paint chips on various TT op, bb, sunstreaker as well as DX9 montana

Spinout was just a trash design. There's having your knee being connected with just a small arm, MP-47, and having a hidden giraffe neck.

Actually, the original design for Spinout was far superior to what was actual delivered. The company who produced the figure made changes to the design to keep the costs down without telling the designer.

I find it funny that you get so offended by any critique against this design, but talk shit about someone else's.

Anywhere I can see the old un-altered design, it would be interesting to see it.

You'll have to search through the Spinout thread. The designer was pretty active here throughout the design stages. Off the top of my molded details like the intakes were removed and the floppiness was a result of cost-cutting changes.

I don't personally offended in any way shape or form. I have nothing against Spinout's designer, and was aware that it had been altered without their knowing. But I'm going to stand firm on what I said, it was a bad design, meaning the actual figure.

I saw Spinout on deep clearance on BBTS yesterday and just sorta shook my head in pity.

As for the actual topic: I liked how we were getting those trimmed-down MPP10s last year in the weird colours (I only got the black and now wish I'd grabbed the blue). I'd be fine with stuff like that, but, shit, I'm still happy with MP10 and didn't bother with 44.

I own TE-01 and MP10, and TE-01 was only a recent purchase after hearing all the praise and seeing the clean bot-mode. I was very content to stay with MP10 and very nearly didn't buy the TE version. I definitely don't regret doing so, but the chances of me buying a new MP OP are about the same as me winning the lottery. XD

Those shots look AMAZING and if Masterpiece scale and what they look like would be worthwhile, definitely prefer without the stripe in truck mode.... What has happened to this one BTW?

Designer vanished a few years ago. No clue what happened or where they are now. Sucks to see the most creative and best looking G1 prime never get made.
