STRICTLY A 3D MODEL, DESIGNER HAS NOT YET SOLD TO A COMPANY, THIS THREAD IS STRICTLY TO SPREAD AWARENESS OF THIS DESIGN AND TO GAIN A COMMUNITY CONCENSUS.
    DESIGNER - @walternaka
My first toy design G1 Optimus Prime

    Project Last Son
    (Temporary Name)

Walternake has designed his own MP Optimus Prime. It is cleaner than TE-01, and about as posable as MP-44, it has a Matrix Chamber and space to put minifigures in the truck cab. He says he is planning on selling the design, but doesn't know who to sell it to. Nevermind which company buys it, would the market be ready for yet another MP Optimus Prime. The three current Toon accurate Optimi, MP-44, TE-01, and MS-01, each have their own following, but I'm sure most people would prefer the design of this figure the most.

Whether or not if this is the people's choice as the best Optimus Prime figure, will there be anyone willing to purchase this figure ?

    Bot Mode
    - Articulation rivaling MP-44
    - Cleaner than TE-01
    - Internal detailing - Needs to be removed for transformation
    - Battle damaged alternate parts
    - Matric Chamber
    Alt Mode
    - G1 toy accurate
    - Cleaner than TE-01
    - Open doors/two minifigure seats
    - Trailer hitch

My Personal Requests/Thoughts - Hopefully for the day when this can begin it's journey towards being an actual product
    - Head more akind to MP-44's S2 head
    - Different length fingers
    - Weathered battle damage
    - Rubber wheels
Seeing as this guy packs in more features than any MP before it, and it's realistic height, 10", this guy should cost around $170 to $190. I've always seen MP-44 and MP-36 as $150 figures, and so by going off of them, I'm confident that this figure is worth a fair bit more than either of them.

Given their Cliffjumper (currently just a silhouette) hasn't been released yet, which would be followed by their Bumblebee soon after, given they would most likely sharw similarities, Fans Toys' Optimus wouldn't be due for another couple of years, around 2023ish.

I will buy it only if have the same amount of ratchets as MP-44. So I recommend him to not sell it to FT.

I’d like to see a proto. And, if it includes DECENT minifigures, I might be interested.

Yeah just enough time for hasbro to sell mp44. Ft usually doesnt step on Hasbro's turf. When hastak came out with soundwave, it took them a couple more years to announce its release.

Between both TE-01 and MP-44, I have two amazing representations of Prime. The need for this is slim to none for me, but if it was phenomenal quality, I might check it out at least.

Get rid of the stripe on the side of the cab and I would totally buy this Prime.

Looks good, I'd buy it, but it would have to come with the MP-10 head sculpt as an accessory...

I appreciate you including the stripe on the vehicle mode. I definitely check this out if it had a toy deco.

Only if it's under $200 would I even consider it. $400 says I am sticking with MP-44.

I have MS-01 but would easily replace him for a better toon representation with proper painted finish and heft. (I did not care for their "metallic" painted version, it didn't look good.) I've held TE-01 and MP-44 and passed on both of them.

Proportions look better than MP-44, so that's a good start.
    • Fully articulated fingers?
    • Wrist pivot and swivel?
    • Waist swivel and ab crunch?
    • Double-jointed elbows and knees for >90-degree bend?
    • Shoulders with at least a little bit of butterfly joint forward without breaking the sculpt?
    • Neck with enough clearance for head to look upward and downward?
    • Hip skirts individually move for each leg so thighs can bend 90 degrees forward for sitting and crouching poses?
    • Light blue paint app on the front of the toes?
    • Painted truck details in alt mode?
    • High quality, tight-toleranced ratchet joints at shoulders, hips, knees, and elbows?
    • Good plastic materials (durability, density, feel)?

Those are the features that would interest me.

It'd basically have to be made by Fans Toys or maybe X-Transbots. Make Toys or DX9 would be possible but they tend to be second-rate on materials and articulation.

Takara's absurd pricing leaves plenty of headroom for a 3P to price a really well done Optimus at around $249-299 and still sell well. Granted, it'll need a year or two cooling off period in the market after the explosion of TEs and MSes in 2019 before the market at large will really be ready to consider replacing what they have right now.

I would definitely buy it. Kinda surprised no one's mentioned how badass it is for having all the parts of the body have a swap out battle damaged piece and a freaking skeleton . It's such a cool idea, I would buy this as soon as it released. I NEED it
