Would Paramount be happy with these numbers for ROTB?

Generally, from what I understand about Goldner was he had some friends in Viacom and being part of the first film in 2007 is how he got the CEO job in the first place, so Goldner was always going to be on the Paramount bandwagon. "Biased" doesn't even begin to describe that decision process (especially when he described movie Bumblebee when the current iteration at the time was RID15, meaning he didn't even realize the version at the forefront of the franchise at the time was actually capable of speaking).

That does make a lot of sense. Hard to imagine anyone that didn't have a strong incentive against criticism putting a stamp of approval on things like "Dickbot the blender guy."

Yep. Lorenzo will come out and do another brain-rotting interview, saying something that makes no sense. . .As well as putting his claws on another film. . .

True - yet, there are folks who've had issues with Lorenzo the last 15 years. . .

Indeed - and instead of a golden parachute, Lorenzo got a big fat golden blimp. . .

2.5x to break-even would put it at around an estimated $500m, but I still believe it'd need more due to a mixture of delays, reshoots, redesigns and a desire to prove itself as financially viable for a franchise.

Breaking-even is also not why a company releases a movie, they want profit, most places ideally want enough profit to fund a sequel and still have extra to spare. So break-even of $500m plus $200m profit from RotB to fund the next installment puts it around $700m and then they'd want a bit more ontop of that. So I think my estimate of them wanting at least $710m+ is fair.

They can also point to that and say that it's surpassed Bumblebee, The Last Knight and Transformers 2007 at the box office (obviously not adjusted for inflation) but it'd be a good way of ensuring stakeholders see the potential in the franchise going forward.

good due to the budget of at least 200M dollars; I guess anything over 700M will be a win for Paramount; less than that it will be a disappointment; And if it makes less than 600M a flop, I'm still aiming for 140-180M (USA), 220M -300M (China) and 310M -420M (International without China) For a run of 670M-900M at the box office worldwide

I would agree I feel like $700 million and over would be a success for them. They definitely need a China (and other Asian markets) release to help the film since these films are big over there. Hopefully they can or if so already have.

If it doesn't release in China (very difficult since I want to assume that Paramount knows that the main market for ROTB is China as well as it was for AOE, TLK and BB) I think that with something of 630M+ Paramount will give the green light to the sequel but perhaps with more caution regarding the budget

Agreed, yeah without China it will be harder for it to that money as fast or just losing out on potential big money. Not to get into politics or how China is but I wonder if having non-white leads might effect the decision for the film to get a China release. Again not trying to get into that conversation but China makes weird decisions for what gets released in their market.

A non-premiere in China would be fatal for ROTB I hope it doesn't happen
