I was just wondering if a story like injustice would work for a transformers movie/tv show
What if megatron nearly destroys earth and captures Optimus prime and a few human children and megatron kills those children on front of prime then Optimus gets enraged and kills megatron and he breaks and turns into a tyrant and kills almost every decepticon and rules the planet and ultra magnus is not ok with this and starts a rebellion with the remaining decepticons

Would this work as a story?

 

Shattered Glass pretty much has you covered if you want evil Optimus. If any positive universe Optimus were to do this, he'd be extremely poorly written.

First of all, if I wanted an Injustice-like story, I wouldn't use either Optimus or Megatron (I would have them dead at the beginning of the story... yes, I am that tired of their overuse).

However, I dunno if it would work. It is a risky idea, that is good in my eyes, but the problem is that it's still one heck of a longshot and it can either end up with a strong, if highly controversial, story (like Beast Machines) or it can end as a total trainwreck of a series (Transformers Prime).

And at this moment, I don't think Hasbro is ready or willing to have another compromised situation like Transformers Prime.

 

An Optimus enraged by war was something I had written for a fan fiction but quickly realized it was an interesting idea on paper but really hard to execute. I eventually realized I was just writing the normal Optimus/Megatron dynamic with a touch of Shattered Glass.

 

Yeah, it really depends on how it's handled. If it's well-handled, it could be really good. If it's poorly handled, it would be a mess.
Maybe have an Autobot other than Optimus as the one who goes rogue, though.

 

Inline with G1 Cartoon US Canon - How about Hot Rod is the one that snaps, kills Megatron, imprisons Optimus, takes the Matrix back, and starts a very aggressive war against the Decepticons. When others protest, it results in Rodimus killing several of them. This leads to Autobots breaking off and forming an underground movement meant to rescue Optimus, and save the Transformer race from extinction. Decepticons end up joining Rodimus, and others join the resistance.

The resistance is being lead by Bumblebee.

 

Rodimus might work a bit better. In my mind, I always considered Rodimus to be a PTSD sufferer, as in losing people that he cared about in his past and it leaving him so shattered that he constantly doubts his own abilities, so him snapping would create a sort of Rambo situation where he starts bringing hell to all the people who wronged him.

Personally, I would have him snap when one of the Decepticons kills Arcee in front of him and he just goes berserk. Then, he sees Megatron killing Optimus and he decides to end it right there and now and just disposes of Megatron and then, everyone starts turning on him.

 

It'd be kind of difficult since the Autobots and Decepticons have pretty much always been depicted at war for millions of years, so it'd be kind of hard to figure out what a breaking point would be for Optimus at that point. The Regeneration One comic kind of got there with Megatron completely destroying human civilization in the Autobot's absence and did enrage that Optimus more than he'd probably ever been by that point.

I feel Optimus Primal might actually be a better candidate since you could kind of see him going down that path near the end of Beast Wars and the beginning of Beast Machines.

Then again I don't really like the actual Injustice games or comics itself to begin with.

 

I've always liked Injustice (Injustice 2 being one of my favorite video games) and I find the concept interest and if done right could be an interesting character study.

As someone else has said it'd be hard to figure out what the breaking point would be in a million year war, honestly between weighing whether or not the breaking event would take place on Earth or on Cybertron I've come up with an idea I'm satisfied with. Especially if you want to use Optimus Prime who I think if done properly could be used in a good study of character and what makes Optimus Prime well, Optimus.

Lets set this as an alternate what if story where the Transformers haven't and don't leave Cybertron for Earth. The war has been dragging out and resources are being depleted. Any new life coming from the Well of the Allsparks is subjected to a life of war and many lives have been sacrificed. You can see it wearing Optimus down from how he sounds when he speaks to his actions and many Autobots around him can tell. He was originally chosen by Primus to bear the Matrix of Leadership and with it comes many weights on his shoulders. During one of their latest conflicts involves a heavily populated city filled with neutrals or civilian Cybertronians that don't want to fight, this is all apart of plan by Megatron to see how far he can push his former friend. Part of Optimus' goal is to a) drive out the Decepticons and b) to evacuate and save most of the neutrals without any casualties. But something goes wrong, what goes wrong? Who knows maybe the battle between gestalts get out of hand or some kind of Decepticon super weapon is involved but either way the city or town is destroyed and the casualties on all three sides is horrendous. Optimus realizes this has gone on too long and so confronts Megatron in the ruins and instead of letting him get away ends up killing Megatron finally snapping which shocks both Autobots & Decepticons.

Optimus once thought to give peace an option, to hopefully come out of this war without having to forcibly kill anyone especially Megatron whom he considered his brother when they were once a librarian and gladiator fighting for a common goal. Now Optimus has killed Megatron and the Decepticons are left in disarray, so Optimus orders the Autobots to wrangle up and kill as many Decepticons as they can in the confusion. Some Autobots are more then happy with this command while others believe this new senseless killing is not what Optimus would truly want. In time Optimus becomes a ruthless dictator of Cybertron doing what he now believes is justifiable to end a conflict. He has selected a council of loyal Autobots & Decepticons (who willing surrendered and pledged loyalty to save their lives) to keep the peace. But beneath Cybertron's surface a resistance cell of Autobots & Decepticons fight to end Optimus' rule and bring peace to Cybertron where everyone can live in peace and freedom.

Thats just one idea that came off the top of my head but I feel it could be done and done well if put in the right hands.

Needs to be somewhere in it, please have nemesis prime, if you cannot do trypticon

 

I agree, Rodimus seems a better choice, but I think the killing of Daniel would be the breaking point for Rodimus, Or maybe even a possible child of Daniels

And the way I see it it would have to be pretty brutal, like maybe one of the animal Decepticons eating/tearing apart the Danny or his child

Because, like, I didn’t think anyone in their right mind would actually want or expect children to die in Transformers.

 

Movie Optimus. This describes movie Optimus, except he's Nemesis full time instead of for a chunk of a single movie.
