From which toy line does the worst Optimus Prime come? From my own limited opinion, the worst is the Titans Return Optimus. He just looks a bit weird. Plus, he turns into some weird-ass plane. To add insult to injury, this Optimus is a slightly changed-up version of the Octane figure.
A runner-up for me is definitely Authentics Optimus. It's a terrible figure on so many levels. Minimal articulation, horrifying appearance, and the largest backpack kibble I've ever seen. I mean, the elbows turn inward! They didn't even put any effort into this one! The only saving grace for this figure is his great truck mode. The thing that really ticks me off about this one, though, is that Authentics Grimlock is a fairly good figure for what he's worth. It seems like they made effort to make the Grimlock desirable but knew fans would get this only because it's Optimus.
I kinda like TR OP. Don't own him though. Just looks cool from the pics I've seen. Personally I think AOE Leader Prime was trash. Once again, I don't own him but I can tell that for AOE OP is such a downgrade over ROTF OP. So what if his design doesn't have kibble? A Voyager did his design a lot better with (relatively) less shellforming and more accurate proportions overall. I'd put SS-05 as a contender (small and inaccurate proportions and paint) but at least his articulation and fun-factor are top notch.
Maybe not the worst, but I'm not the biggest fan of Combat Hero Optimus from G2 if I'm being honest. His sponge rocket gimmick was fun for little me, but his color scheme makes his truck mode look like a roided out ice cream van, his robot mode is a little too blocky and for such a fairly bircky figure he has lots of issues standing up thanks to his hollow heels. He just pales in comparison to both Laser Optimus and the G2 reissue of the original OP toy. One might say the GoBot Prime is worse, but at least the little guy can stand on his feet fine.
Agreed on all counts. All five are awful. On a personal opinion level, PotP Optimus with the big boy pants ranks up there as well. I really did NOT like that figure.
Those shoulder tabs on potp optimus were not great .... starconvoy was a tad wasted on that mold imo . But.... at least that gave us Orion pax ... But those five were really bad with what came before/after them within their own contained line between hastak these optimus*es I’m still pretty salty over that sdcc tlk variant . They had the means to do the deco and add the paint but no , here’s a piece of tire and double the price for better screen accuracy
Cybertron Optimus Prime. I hate those yellow optics and just his design overall. Cybertron Megatron I hate too.
