We all have favorite Optimus Prime quotes. Now what are our least favorite quotes from him?

"One shall stand, one shall fall" was good for the 1986 and 2007 movies, but lately, if it's said any other time, it just makes me roll my eyes and say "ugh, again with this quote"

"As the Earthlings say, lay it on me, man." From Countdown to Extinction. I've always hated that line. IDK why.

 

"Megatron be gone!"

Maybe Optimus should just stick to movie quotes, his original material is painful.

 

what was that thing where jack was like 'hey optimus, do you like fun' and optimus just said 'no.'

what the fuck was that? OPTIMUS USED TO BE SO FUN?! what happened to 'am i drooling correctly' and shit like that? optimus is supposed to be fun dad, not mystical jesus guy who hates everything except lord of the rings knockoffs

 

Sorry, but this is a no fun zone, gramps. Only young turbo-revvin' upstarts can be cheerful and witty. Gone are the days of "middle-aged" to "old" 'bots like G1 Optimus or Primal who can be both authoritative leaders and, like, real people who have fun and can be lighthearted and crack a joke or two because life isn't one sour patch kid after another up their ass.

You get one character trait. ONE. And you stick to it. None of this multi-dimensional crap.

But seriously, I believe the question Raf asked was "do you want to see something funny." And he just flat out says no like and actual robot. Aww hell ya, now THAT's a multi-facetted character.

He said "worst" not "best."

 

"One shall stand", "no matter the cost", and "darkest hour" were so badly beaten like dead horses by Prime that I hate them now. "No cliches, Galvatron" in the season two finale of ex-RID was a godsend.

 

I do have to admit his movie lines are used like crazy these days, but I can't find myself hating them.

If I were to pick Optimus' worst quote I would have to pick...
"Yes, Spike. This time I am definitely me. Or I. Myself. Oh, whoever I am. Put 'er there, partner."

Some how during the madness of A Prime Problem even Optimus himself couldn't figure out who the real Optimus is. Maybe they should have had one more race to be absolutely sure.

 

Not really the worst, but whenever I think of this line from Prime it just sounds weird:

"The conditions are much too extreme, even for we Autobots"

Why did they use that take, you know, the worst one?

 

I'd say take your pick from the opening dialog of The Rebirth: Part 1.

Prime's chat with Megaton on top of the Sherman Dam in MTMTE was also comically corny, topped only by Megatron's sputtering lack of any decent comeback. "Junk. That's what you are--junk."

 

What were those quotes from where he missed pronounced Spike & Trailbreaker's names?

 

Megatron Be Gone sounds like a spray you'd see at Walmart.

 

Amazing, a boobie trap that actually catches boobies.

Give me your face-I like this one in an ironic way, but it's terrible regardless

 

...gotta echo the sentiments with everyone and say his stuff in Prime. "Megatron: Be gone!" especially bugged me.

I forget the episode, but it was one of the later ones when they were back on Cybertron & the Decepticons had poisoned the air with green toxic gas.

There's a scene where Optimus & another bot are trapped in the poison gas. The other bot is about to open a door so they can escape through it & Optimus says,

"NO!! Whatever's on the other side of that door might be worse!!"

They actually chose to stay in the poison cloud & gag for another 5 minutes. When they do finally go through the door, it's fine. That line right there made Optimus into a coward that's so afraid of what's on the other side of a door that he'd rather die. You can blame the bad dub, but that line is still there for all to be heard.

But to the topic at hand, as someone said earlier, Optimus's chat with Megatron on top of the Dam in MTMTE where he calls Megatron "junk." Taken on its own it's more or less just banter, but coming between the two of them it sounds more like two kids squabbling than the leaders of two rival factions trying to settle a millenia long war.

 

"Give me your face!" has to be the worst. Completely goes against the character

 

Also that time in All Hail Megatron when Megs told Prime to shut up in the middle of his "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings." shtick was pretty nice.

 

Someone else that remembers Bucky! Love that show.  

 

That's why I hated Prime Optimus, The guy was way too stoic and one-dimensional. Really, I'm not a fan of the "Stoic mystical jesus-bot" Optimuses, You can be a leader and have fun/make jokes.

As for the topic at hand, Movie optimus has to have some of the worst dialog in Optimus history, if I heard things like "Give me your FACE" and "I'll kill you!" out-of-context I would assume they were said by a Decepticon.
