So, 2007 is gone, time to decide the biggest waste of money for the year... All I bought for hardware was a Wii and a PSP Slim. The Wii hasn't received much use, and if not for Gamecueb and VC support I'd likely have sold it by now. But I'll put the PSP as the worst. My only game purchases have been rehashes of older games- the first and 2nd Final Fantasy, Valkyrie Profile, Castlevania Dracula X and Megaman Powered Up. Now, FF looks a LOT better than any other version by far. VP and CDX are inarguably a LOT cheaper than the vintage games. But it's generally a system I bought to play updates of odler games. I could go custom firmware but I do't like the chance of bricking a $200 device so I don't bother with it. Not that I need the PSP to run emulators. Besides, the Wii has actual worthwhile titles now. Not much PSP-exclusive I feel a need to play.
Worst Game purchase? Hmm, Armored Core 4 on xbox 360. I hate this game with a passion. To the post below. I got that at the same time as I bought my worst purchase. I like the game, though a particular part is rapidly changing from 'frustrating' to 'f*@! this.'
Should have gone with a DS instead of PSP. Mine's chock full of emulated NES, Master System, SNES and Megadrive (Genesis) goodness. Before everyone screams ZOMG ILLEGALZ - I own the cartridges too. Word. Related: Best game purchase - DS Lite. Runner ups: CoD 4, Dead Rising, Stranglehold. LOSERS: Soldier of Fortune 3. BLAAAAH.
i borrowed Gears of War and wasn't impressed, but since I didn't buy it I can't really count it. I guess TF: The Game for PSP. Played a tiny bit and that was it. Gotta find the case so I can sell it later...
Hmn, at least TFTM:07 wasn't hyped to buggery though, Gears was. PRESS A! PRESS A! PRESS A! PRESS A! GUESS WHAT? YEAH! PRESS A! LOOKIT ALL DAT JUICE! >_<
Transformers: The Movie I'd like to strap my copy onto a rocket and blast it into the sun. But then it would be a waste of a rocket, and it's shear suckyness might suck up some of the mass of the sun and cause it to blow up. So I'll keep it as a back-up plan for my apocalypse.
I purchased COD4 on release day and played it for 2 hours. Soon after, it was right back to Halo 3. While the game might be great, it's just not my thing.
While I run the risk of being lynched for saying it, Halo 3, and Assasins Creed. I never got into Halo and fell victim to the hype machine. I played online a couple times and it was cool, but not spectacular. Assasins Creed was buggy and repetitive for me. Maybe my copy was bad.
Probably TFTM on the PSP. I found all of them rather wretched (DS, PS3, PSP) but I think the PSP one was practically unplayable.
Has to be a three way tie between the Darkness, Lair, and TFTM. All sucked hard and made me wish I have gamefly so I could just say: Take that shit back.
Don't get your panties in a wad, but my worst purchase was the Wii. I had it back at Best Buy two weeks after I bought it. Nothing to play on it (I bought it before Galaxy, and would still not get it now for just one game) and the games that were available I had already played them on the cube.
The absolute worst game for me was Two Worlds. That game was sooooo bad. It was supposed to be "Oblivion on steroids" but it was clearly a "kicked in the balls then set on fire" version of Oblivion. I also had to get a new 360 but It wasn't to terribly bad to have to do that. On the good side I picked up a PSP, DS and Wii over the course of 07. All of which I am really happy with. Now all I have to do is find a copy of Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops.
I bought ARMA: Combat Operations because my Battlefield 2 clan migrated to ARMA, and they don't even play ARMA! I miss those guys now...
