What’s the worst g1 episodes of all time?

 

There are two possible answers to this complex and multi-faceted question.

a) This is rather difficult to answer, as one person's worthless piece of trash is another's underrated gem. By way of a personal example, many people justifiably deride Akom's trio of early season two episodes in account of dismally limited animation, lurid colouring, and simplistic plotting. I can't disagree with any of that, however, those three episodes also happen to heavily feature the Constructicons, who are far and away my favourite Decepticon combiners, so I personally rather enjoy them for that alone. Similarly, Dinobot Island is about the most incredibly blatant commercial the show's ever done, but, I happen to find it good, nostalgic fun. As a result I think it's rather hard to identify any single episode and hold it up as a supposedly objective example of being the worst ever...

b) B.O.T.

 

Worst episode by plot: megatron’s master plan

It would have been one of the most pathetic attempts at a master plan if all the humans in the show weren’t thick skulled morons.

Jesus this episode is just a mess. Why are the humans thinking the decepticons are all a sudden innocent after all the times they tried to DESTROY the human race so many times? And that even raises more questions why the hell are they actually believing the footage they created of them framing the autobots? It’s just incredibly moronic. There’s a whole lot of stupid things in the plot but I’m not going to go further.

Worst episode by animation: Carnage in C minor.

The sheer amount of animation errors in this episode is honestly astonishing. tiny constructicons,autobot soundwave,bootleg broadside,galvatron’s pink underwear,one legged autobots, downscaled combiners,ressurected characters and turncoat bonecrusher. So much things to laugh at.

Worst episode in general: B.O.T

It contains both problems megatron’s master plan has and carnage in c minor. A Hysterical animation errors for g1 standards and a rushed nonsensical plot. This episode is so bad it’s good.

I have to agree with you. In my case, a lot of people throw trash on Surprise Party, Carnage in C-Minor and Nightmare Planet, but I personally love them. Carnage in C-Minor in particular has such a bizarre concept that it's just enjoyable for me.

As for my least favorite episodes, they would have to be B.O.T. and Fight or Flee. They have some good in it (B.O.T. has some really great moments from Swindle while Fight or Flee has great development for Sandstorm), but the stories are so rushed and badly animated that they become chores to sit through.

 

I never liked "Sea Change", even as a kid. I always thought the magic pool and mermaid stuff was kind of out-there and hard to buy, even for G1 Transformers. I might have been able to stomach that stuff if the episode wasn't centered around Seaspray, but I always found him kind of annoying. Add in robot romance (a concept that rarely works for me) and you end up with an episode that just doesn't appeal to me. Which is sad, because I actually like the Deceptitran aspect of the episode. I remember getting excited as a kid when they went to this new planet and met this new Decepticon group. And then they got into the magic pool/mermaid stuff, and I was disappointed that it was that type of story.

I actually never minded B.O.T. Sure it was dumb, but I felt like the general premise was fun. It was mostly just plagued with animation errors. Overall it felt very average to me.

Call of the Primitives. Beautiful animation, but the story plays out like a daydream of Grimlock's.

A masterpiece of a post

 

The Search for Alpha Trion. I hate that character so much. He was a horrible cliche of a character with an equally horrible design.

Honourable mentions:

B.O.T.
The Return of Optimus Prime. Horrible voice acting. The two human villains had over the top, annoying voices and it brought back the hated Optimus Prime. To say nothing of the false advertising of the video release which featured Powermaster Optimus Prime along with other Powermasters and Pretenders.
The Lord Chumley episode.
Kremzeek. Ridiculously cartoony design of Kremzeek with a grating, embarrassing speech pattern.
The Rebirth. What did they do to the Nebulans? The usual horrible animation and Spike could rebuild a city? C'mon!!

 

But...but he had a great mustache....

You mean the episode "prime target"? That episode is actually pretty decent. And I don’t really hate human villains or lord chumley like most people do in Tf shows. It also created this infamous scene

 

WORST G1 EPISODE?

 

There are some dumb episodes, some poorly animated episodes but the bad episodes are the boring ones that are tedious to watch.

And The Return of Optimus Prime was made in 1987. The Pretenders and Powermasters were not released until 1988. Of course they were not going to appear in the episode.
