Okay guys, a few people during the Best of 2016 campaign asked for a "Worst Figure of the Year", and hell, why not. So lets have a "most disappointing 3P toy" discussion. No nominations, no votes.

Be polite of course, this is just for fun.

Have fun, and keep it light(ish)

Omnigonix Spinout, is the first thing that comes to mind. Not really sure what else there is,

I feel bad I don't have anything to include. I wasn't disappointed by anything really. Some bits weren't for me, so I didn't buy them. That doesn't mean they suck.

Be interesting to see what people come up with. If anything.

If it is just bitter and hate filled, full of non 3P buyers saying "they're all crap" I'll just ask admin to delete.

I think the only purchase I regret last year is TT Ramjet. ACE Tumbler is a bit wonky, but I still like him.

I vote for Omnigonix Spin-out (and yes, I did buy the figure). Cheap plastic and and whole slew of other issues (neck not tabbing in, wheels falling off, floppy legs can't support weight)

I'm also tempted to mention Ollie V2, although he's not terrible. I had parts breaking and they still haven't fixed the transformation to be any easier.

In a similar vein to Ollie, I also think Fanstoys Hound could be a contender, because the toy has an engineering issue and an unpleasant transformation scheme. It could have been good (and we expect better from FT).

Bonus hindsight award? I can't even remember what came out in 2016 and now you want me to remember what came out in 2015?

    Worst toy
    Spinout for being released
    Hova for not being released

    Worst Company
Fans Toy for their Cloud 9 hissy fit and for leaking Takara MP Megatron pics right before Make Toys and DX9 released their figs in an attempt to hurt sales.

No, I think it will mostly look like the above post. People will pick some company they don't like for whatever reason and rag on that company for whatever reason they can come up with that is often based on conjecture, circumstantial evidence, or just wrong information. Then others will defend said company. And you'll have fights.

It's like if you ask phone aficionados to pick the worst company and you'll get a bunch of people saying Apple, Samsung, Google, etc. or gamers and you get a fight of Playstation vs Xbox. You can't really have a good topic like this on a forum like this.

    XTB Boost
    XTB Hatch
    Fanstoys Willis

    Company:
    XTB
    Perfect Effect
    Fansproject

Only included stuff I handled in the figure category, although that Omnigonix seems like it should win out LoL. And the level of "worst" from my list of figures from XTB to Fanstoys is a huuuuuge gap. That Boost mold was a nightmare I hope never happens to anyone again. I left them for the company simply because they are the only ones that made figures I owned and despised - which doesn't happen often, but always has the same brand on the box.

Willis is up there for being a pain in the ass - although I almost put Tesla in his place. Those two are simply the most boring-to-look-at figures I've ever had, but at least Tesla was big!

As for PE, I only put them there because they've made some AMAZING full figures before, and I can't remember a single new one from them this year. So they suck, but only for not providing the goodz lol.

Listing Fansproject sucked, because they've really gone into a realm of their own (which is dope) but it seems like every release I have an interest in has quality or build issues that aren't taken care of prior to release. I hate that I can't recall buying a single one of their newly-released toys this year, which is the first time that's happened since I bought my first FP product. Being basically the "old timers" of the 3P world, I never imagined them shipping releases with issues that seem to not even plaque the new guys usually.

If we're doing a sort of 2016 Regrets thread, I'd list ToyWorld Constructor in the Hindsight category as something I wish I'd waited on, because they've officially announced (and pre-orders are now available) for a v2 of the Green set that includes all of the fixes to the original set.
While ToyWorld has been good enough to offer those fixes for sale as separate items so us v1 buyers can upgrade our Constructors, the savings of nearly $175 (when the price of the upgrades is factored in, since they are $42 in total plus the new set is $130 cheaper MSRP), which is nearly a third(!) of the cost of the set, is significant enough to induce some regret, even though the combiner itself is truly an awesome sight to behold and enjoyable to pose for display purposes.
There were also a few minor quality issues with the individual Constructicons that I'd say were underwhelming for the $100 per figure price point.

Looking back on the roughly 150 figures I picked up in 2016 (both 1P and 3P, new releases and MISB older figures), the only disappointments I can think of would be:
    • Fansproject Warbot Revolver Core (Roadbuster) which turned out to be a very loose-jointed figure. The joints aren't floppy, but they're all very smooth spinning/turning rather than frictioned or ratcheted, so it's hard to get it to hold poses. It's also doesn't really fit with anything else in my collection. People say SteelCore is a cool figure but the experience with Revolver has deterred me from picking one up.
    • MMC Jaegertron because they could have done so much better with this figure. The tab frustrations on the wings in spaceship mode, the black plastic that has a shiny finish to it that in the right light shows the millions of fine scratches/swirlmarks/cloudiness it comes with from the factory, the articulation limits.
    • Iron Factory Blizzard - not very posable, in part due to the massive tank/jet on his back, and thus not as useful or fun to display as most of the IF lineup
    • Perfect Effect PE-10 KingBat - this thing is so poorly designed, it broke immediately out of the box at the top of the shaft just below the main body portion of the spear-mode. And when it happened, it felt like it was a purposeful disconnection of two parts occurring as part of the transformation. I haven't bothered to superglue it together yet, it's just been sitting on the spare parts shelf since the week I bought it about eight months ago. Meh.
    • There are a few Takara figures I'd list but this is 3P focused :)

I think the ones who asked for such a poll were the dynamic duo asking for another outlet to rage against Giga in.

Based on Edgerusher's post above, I think you could do a Regrets thread and be in fairly safe--or at least safer--territory. A thread of figures you purchased and were just disassisfied with or disappointed by. That might work.

I think it's the Worst Company idea that is going to cause the most trouble.

Only regrets I had last year were with Takara figures. Can I write in Ramjet/Thrust? No? Well, I'm writing those floppy turds in anyway. Would put Tracks/Road Rage/Loudpedal and Ironhide/Ratchet in second and third, respectively. :D

    Worst 3rd party figure:
    Omnigonix Spinout
    X-Transbots Boost

Spinout looked great to me, but it's a shame the QC was sabotaged in the factory. Boost looks nice, but the transformation sucks.

    Worst 3rd party company:
    X-Transbots
    Omnigonix

I put X-Transbots first since they have years of experience but still put out fragile figures. Sure, they look very nice. That being said, I ranked Omnigonix lower because Spinout was thir first (and only) figure.

    Omnigonix spinout.
Everything else will be up to individual opinions but Spinout was almost categorically bad. Even those who defend and support it are having to do fixes and upgrades to make it work.
I was super close to buying it till BC saved the day.

Exactly so what exactly is the point of revisiting Omnigonix? It's not helping anything, it's not enlightening anyone. Those folks who where happy and moded the figure to suit them are in that thread and if you want the figure and you want to understand the issues and fixes those folks will help you.

I have no idea why digging up the corpses of horses and fucking them to death for the 1000th time makes a bit of sense to anyone, anywhere.
