Hot damn, seven-one! This is probably as bad as the Maracanzo, if not worse. This match was a pure display of German efficiency while the Brazilians looked like they were chickens running around with their heads cut off. Here's a question for you: Do you think the match would have been better without the Brazilian goal? I heard something about that, but I don't know the details. Explain plz!
Neymar: fractured vertebrae Neymar could still play in World Cup for Brazil according to medical analysis by specialist Michael Davison - Telegraph AND Silva due to two consecutive yellow cards: FIFA announces Thiago Silva's semifinal suspension will be upheld | FOX Sports on MSN But probably wouldn't have mattered. I thought the refs would be Brasil's 12th man, but I guess they couldn't really do much. I love the German football team. Like a fine tuned machine. Not mine (and yes I know a touchdown is 6 + 1 with extra point, but still)
Brazil's Neymar was kneed in the back by Colombia's Juan Zúñiga. It resulted in a fractured vertebra and forced Neymar out of the tournament.
Yeah, total clusterfark. The Brazilian team's meltdown was just painful to watch. I suppose you could chalk it up to their being disorganized and dispirited by injuries (namely Neymar's) but just wow. My wife (who's Brazilian) pretty much went through the 5 classic stages of grief (denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and finally acceptance) within a span of an hour, haha. We now more or less both think Brazil deliberately threw that game in the hopes that Argentina will lose against the Netherlands, just so Brazil can get a shot against Argentina (seeing how those two countries have a lot of bad blood between them), World Cup Championship be damned.
What a crazy game. It was like David Luiz, Maicon, Marcelo and Fernandinho completely forgot how to defend. David Luiz in particular was dreadful, showed zero discipline and leadership and should have been sent off for his elbows on Klose. He's shown his nasty streak a few times for Chelsea so I can enjoy some schadenfreude at his expense. A disappointing semi final in what for me has been a disappointing World Cup. Hopefully the Dutch can go on and win the Tournament, but I fear their defence won't be enough against Argentina or Germany.
Big Phil Scolari attains the dubious distinction of being the coach of Brazil's last World Cup winning side (2002), and coach of their most devastating defeat. Germany's Miroslav Klose beats Brazil's Ronaldo in becoming the player to score the most goals ever in all World Cup games (16 goals). Germany brutally bludgeoned both Brazil (7-1) and Brazil's former colonizer Portugal (4-0) in the same tournament. Portugal's 4-0 loss was too deep of a hole for them to climb out of their group, due to goal difference.
That pic can't be real. Talking to people in Brazil right now, there are no riots, at least not this level.
from reddit: This sad Brazilian fan was shown crying. But no ones published this beautiful picture of him handing the trophy to a German fan. He was quoted as saying "Take it to the final! As you can see, it is not easy, but you deserve it, congratulations" (Roughly translated) For anyone who wants to know, the guy is somewhat of a legend in Brazil. He is known as "Gaucho da Copa" His real name is Clovis Acosta Fernandez. He has been to 7 World Cups, 6 Copa Américas, 4 Confederation Cups, 1 Olympic Game. He has visited 66 countries and has watched 149 games althogether. So, he's been to 3 world cup finals, Brazil winning two of them.
Yeah, IMO it was a mental collapse by the Brazillian defence. That being said I still felt that this was the weakest Brazillian team ever. Back in 2002, Solari had Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Dinho to tide him through. This time he had Fred and Jo as his centre-forwards. Even their midfield had no creativity. I think FIFA might as well hand over the cup to the Germans because their all round team play has been superb and their defence solid. I can't help but feel sad when I saw the images of folks crying - especially the kids. That's one aspect I still haven't gotten used to after all this time.
Wow, that man is such a good sport! I'll admit, I've only seen the images of him crying. And this: dumpert.nl - Opa is triest
