I saw the Evasion Prime mold and the first thing I thought was GINRAI!. Once I found out it would indeed fit into the Xovergen Trailer, I ordered it immediately. I added a new head and have been repainting it to look more like Ginrai. Painting in various stages of progress as I keep adjusting and adding to the mold. I found a way to attach the powermaster using Magnets in both modes. So now that that is taken care of hopefully I can do the final paint touches soon.
That really works as a stand in for the Classics Optimus Prime toy. Also the AOE Optimus figure really works as a somewhat movie version of Ginrai.
I'd say I pretty much like the look of everything except that combined part. But then, I think it looks fugly no matter what OP truck someone plugs into it...chug, orion, this, etc, so that may just be my personal taste. That new head does work very well on him, especially with the colors.
I did a very similar mod to mine, even added a Shapeways G1 inspired blaster for good measure (cannot paint to save my life!!). Wish there was something that could be done about those tiny bitty hands tho!
Chokon power!!! I believe there are a few OP heads on Shapeways that might work pretty well for this too, I love TF01, seeing this is making me debate replacing classics OP for a more Masterforce combined mode.
Where I put the Magnets On the back, had the dremel off pre-existing peg You can see how it attaches here There are 2 magnets inside Ginrai of the same size as to other ones in the pictures, but I had such trouble getting them in, I don't want to try to take it apart again. I had to dremel out half the bottom of the screw holder on one side to get them to fit. One magnet didn't have enough pull, so I needed 2. Amazingly enough the screw still worked. Where I attached it in the front It leaves a slight gap when in robot mode and the tabs wouldn't connect, so I did a little dremeling and now it transforms with no problem
Now better painted pics Due to the way the magnets fit, Ginrai needs to be upside down when placed in front.
