So this project started with me thinking of ways to paint the Year of the Horse Masterpiece Optimus Prime trailer. I liked the clear trailer's detailing, along with the YOTH Autobot logo on the back, that you can see from the outside due to it being clear but I think the translucence made it so that the trailer didn't quite fit with the Optimus figure visually. I went ahead and spray painted the inside of the trailer rather than the outside to create the illusion of the trailer being solid while maintaining the detail. I then went about spraying the bottom of the trailer and the supports on the top and bottom with a glossy black. I also painted the control tower/repair drone and the seated areas with that same gloss black. I have the trailer still disassembled while it cures overnight, so these are some WIP pics for now. I intend on adding all of the details to the interior by hand over the coming weeks, so expect some more pics soon!
Cool! I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do with my trailer. If I decide to keep my Prime in Yoth colors I may ape this.
I was actually inspired with the black by another custom MP10 I had seen when I was looking up if there was a trick to disassembling the base of the trailer, namely the main interior panel and the main exterior panel to which everything is mounted. I left the link below. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radic...-10-optimus-prime-full-repaint-pic-heavy.html
So the majority of the base paint has cured, so I reassembled it so I can begin the detailing soon. These are some new shots of it along with showing off how it looks with the stock YOTH OP. As you can see, I painted the base of the trailer and the outer supports black along with the terminals and control tower inside. The exterior:
I just bought a MP10 YOTH and I am gonna do this to the trailer. This looks so much better than the clear trailer.
