WIP Wheeljack: Canopy added May 14

EDIT 05/21/09 - Alt Head slapped on to get an idea for proportions. Should have it properly mounted by next week - there's no room to just glue a neck post into the chest, so I'll need to whip up another crazy hinge system. =P



This guy would be the reason I put my Streaker-Jack off to the side.

Bwahah, canopy installed. Not very pretty, but function before form, yah?



Because of his transformation, poor guy lacks waist articulation. I've compensated by attaching the canopy to his neck - his chest articulation almost makes up for it.



Transformation's got lotsa moving parts, but nothing complicated. Feet fold in like normal, entire chest assembly folds back.



Rotate the arm/shoulder assembly, then rotate the canopy around again.



Fold 'im together, and enjoy the alt mode! Still a huge gap in back to fill, but I need to put those pieces to good use. *nod*





Also including a random group shot to give a sense of scale. I taped on the E. Downshift head, but I think it makes him look a bit pin-headed. Guess I should get to looking for that Alt Wheeljack head afterall~

 

don't know, but i would think that alternator's head might be too big?

 

If he was still the same size as E. Downshift, I would totally agree. But all these mods have brought this guy up to a Voyager/Alt 8in bot mode, which really *needs* a larger head.

For me, bashing has always been more about the process than the end result. I'll try lots of oddball things to get things working. Sadly, I end up with quite a few projects in my TF graveyard. ^^;

If it ain't broke, see if there's anything left to tweak!

Umm, Bendy Prime butt-plate, hinge from RiD Wedge's weapon, hip socket from TFTM Protoform Prime, and some FIXIT-Sculpt.

 

Very cool job so far! I needs to see more!

neat! you plan to bulk up the thighs a bit?

Though now that you mention it, I think I could squeeze in a bit of styrene to at lest get 'em a bit boxier.

Dunno, I'm afraid it might blow up on 'im soon as I finish it. =P

If I've got the parts lying around, I might be tempted, but bonus accessories like that aren't on my priority list.

 

maybe just a few inches on the inner thighs since that's the only free space from what i can tell.  

 

Thats really nice! I love to see pepole engineer there own transformations, looking forward to the end result.

The Alt WJ head looks good! Have you tried to transform it yet to see if it hides well inside the back end?
