Since I picked up two War Within Primes for 4.99 each, I left one in the box and opened the other. I decided I really don't like the paint job on it so I'm repainting him.

I've only got one leg done so far and wanted to get some opinions on color. I went with a lighter metallic blue than the original. I didn't like it at first, but now it has grown on me and I think I'll leave it. You can see the original color next to the new leg.

I apologize about the pictures, my digital camera is old and does not allow closeups (or I'm just digital camera inept) The colors are the only thing I'm concerned about now.

I also painted the tired flat black, this made a HUGE difference. I hate that shiny plastic look of the tires.

what are you using to remove the paint? and do you find the surface smoother after you remove the paint? or is it still rough?

I was just going to throw my metal pieces in a can of paint thinner, but I ran into some problems. 1. The wheels on the torso are pressed on and didn't want to risk breaking them trying to get them off. 2. The wheels on the legs could come off if I could get that metal guard thingy to come off (its pressed on as well) Again I didn't want to break the wheels.

Long story short, I just put black primer over the leg pieces. No removal of the paint. It smoothed out the surface some and made it easier to apply the paint. More imporantly, gave me dark areas in crevases, the metallic blue paint was more or less dry brushed on.

That was a long way to answer your question, but I just wanted to warn you of the problems you'll run into.

Woah...makes me wanna go to America and pick up one of those babies. Are there a lot of them left for $5.00, or am I SOL ? (spit out of luck)....oh by the way the new colours are much better. A lot more "Prime Accurate" if you ask me.

That's a bummer. Still an allright price but...why were they $5.00 in the first place? Error, or a quick sale..?

I'm going to go with error. The only time I see stuff marked down that much is when its gone through its third round of clearance or its the day after Thanksgiving in which case they would have had about a 100 at each store. I got my Lego Millenium Falcon on Black Friday for $49.99 at Target instead of the normal $99.99.

I'm sure someone in the know on the board knows the real story of what happened.

Here are some new pics of the what I have done so far. First the arms. I am removing anything "chrome" from the figure, I just don't care for it. So the guns got painted over. Something I realized in the comic is that his upper arms (what I have and the original toy has painted blue) is red. I left it blue for now but may change it. you can't really tell from the picture, but I went over the yellow parts with a translucent yellow.

Now the legs. I painted hte upper legs the same color as the forearms, then filled in the details. Original on the right, my version on the left. There is a weird spot on the left leg, it lookd like I smeared paint, it was dust I didn't see when I took the picture.

I've been working on the torso as well, I'll post those pictures when I'm completely finished.

Both, always spray what I can, then do brush stuff. I wish I had an airbrush.

It was error. The 3 inch titaniums are $4.99 so when the 6 inchers came in someone(s) thought they were one and the same initally. Just like when Primus first came out and was on clearance for $12.99. Supreme Starscream was on clearance at that price so when Primus came out someone(s) forgot to change the clearance on Supremes back to regular price initially.

Wow, I wish Canada had those kind of sales and prices. Most we get off is like 10 bucks, if it's around $100.00. I go over the boarder and I get a shirt for $17.00 that's $30.00 here. Nice score on the Lego Falcon I must say

Ooooh, so a lotta people got a lot of Transformers for a cheap price eh? Must be nice! I still don't think $15.00 is too bad for something half metal half plastic. Plus it transforms too, so that's a plus. I regret not getting more re-issued TFormers when they were only $20.00. Stupid ol' me.
