WIP: Shadow Commander/R.I.D. Scourge EDIT: Finished! (maybe...) I got the custom shoulder missles from Ptitvite (they're great!) and the custom head from the same group that was selling the custom Magnus heads that ended up with a melted, Joker-looking face (I actually snagged a head that looked pretty good). I started some panel lining on the thighs of the Nemesis Prime base figure, and applied some metallic Decepticon symbols on the shoulder and the sword. I'm still going to touch it up, but here's what I've got so far.
Slowly but surely, I'm still working on this. I had an extra smokestack/blaster and glued one on top of the other, it looks like a more intimidating (I.E. powerful) gun that way. Apologies for the pic quality, all I had was my cell.
Okay, I was a bit iffy about this so please let me know your thoughts. I took a cyber planet key and trimmed off the bottom, used a red sharpie to color the clear areas, and then placed it over his chestplate. It gives off more of an "evil matrix chamber" vibe to me. Thoughts?
I think it could work, but as it is right now, it looks too "stuck on", and not a part of his chest. I think if you used putty or styrene to help it look more a part of the chest it could look cool.
I've never really dealt with putty or styrene before. I'm thinking about painting it black (or doing a black wash) with some silver highlights in certain parts, that way the black would blend in with the darker parts of the armor.
i really like what you've done with those, great job with that. do you have any more that you're willing to show? or is that you're whole collection. i love looking at everyone's handywork...lol
The only other figure I've modded is a G1 Sharkticon, other than that I usually just stick to weapon/weapon effects (like the MP Grimlock fire-breath effect). Here's another update. Frenzy_Rumble helped me with a good color scheme for the new chestplate, teal for some parts and a darker grey/silver for the rest:
LOL. There's one more thing I'm thinking about doing to the upper body before concentrating on the leg armor. Look at this photo of R.I.D Scourge: See the two cylindrical shapes above his shoulders? I'm thinking about either (1) putting two smaller ones on each "smokestack", one on each side of the diagonal line on there, or (2) one large one centered on the teal part of the shoulder.
Well, upon further inspection, I don't think I could pull this off. If I put two on each side of the diagonal line on the smokestacks, it will look like he has two percentage signs on there [%] and would look odd. Then I forgot that when you change it to trailer mode, the two shoulder pieces fasten together with the teal parts facing each other, and it fits pretty snugly so I couldn't put anything directly on the shoulder either. Nuts.
sure you can, take a cue from G1 Ultra Magnus stagger them, have it so one pegs into the other, so you'd have them slightly higher on one shoulder than the other, but it won't look bad at all. G1 Ultra Magnus's shoulder launchers sit this way for this same reason and you don't hear people complain about it.
Actually, I think I just figured something out. Hopefully I'll have this thing completely finished by Monday.
