Hey, got an idea to help finest the blade look on Sideswipe. While looking a a blue CD case...i wondered what if i could upgrade the blade look for a mod.

I did a very quick test fit and a pictures while still fresh in my mind.....so sorry for the messy display.

    The idea is ....retractable blades.

But i don't know which option i should move forward w/ since i did two looks So please help me choice.

opt 1. 2 retractable "scissor style" flat blades (his left arm)
opt 2. 2 retractable "movie style" blades (his right arm)

    comments/ suggestion please
    thanks

Does it still transform even with the energon blades?

I have yet to try it. But I'm not concern if it does or not seeing that the blades aren't meant to be physical but more as an energy/ beam source.

I see at it more as blades that retract (switch on) and detract (switch off). I guess they can be be physical too. Either way i like the option and look of taking the blades off or on and not being attached permitly to the arms. But this will be one of few mod i have in mind.

other then adding blades to the forearm
I'm thinking of adding a shoulder cannon
    small hand weapon
and fixing the hind leg/ wheel feet look...by adding feet and more mass to the lower legs

But i need comments on which blade option i should go with.

    thanks

I like this, in theory, if you can make it fit within the transformation! removable or not, you don't want to be carrying them around or letting them collect dust...partsformers = yuck!

I prefer the Scissor style blade myself, that way when the blade is closed, it looks like a stabby-stab, and when it's open it looks like Energon Shears.

    MY LIFE FOR AIUR!!

I like you wording for the flat blades! thanks!

opt 1. scissors style - two shear energon blades when open or one stabing energon blade when closed together.

opt 2. movie style - two seperate energon blades as seen in the CGI images

i know comments would help. keep them coming!

    why not have both options.

opt 1. 2 retractable "scissor style" flat blades (for his left arm)

opt 2. 2 retractable "movie style" blades (for his right arm)

looks better having both then one style.

I like the scissor style blades better. Then you can leave them open or closed.

Having different styles on the two hands looks messy IMO. Sideswipe seems like a dude who cares a whole lot about his appearance (He picked a Corvette concept car for an alt mode!) :p

The pictures of the CGI model they used have the blades pretty much like your option 1. So if you're going for accuracy, go that way.

In terms of functionality, I'd go with the scissor blades. Having two parallel blades trying to cut at the same time would make it harder to cut through things.

    Why not one of each?
