NO LONGER* a WIP FoC Jazz 1st attempt ever. UPDATED FINAL RESUTS:See Below So,this my FoC Jazz repaint project.1st TF attempt ever.I have some minor experience in painting various projects of all kinds over the years so I thought I'd give this a crack.Did the usual the surface sand, wash then primer. Then I decided to go with a Transluscent Silver base, afterwards taping off anything I wanted to either color seperately or keep that silver.Next was a light layer of white enamel and a transluscent white pearl over that.Wet sanded the parts down and decided to keep the "wear" look as most of the Game versions of these characters seem to look battle worn.Black washed the cracks down, cleaned then laid another light coat of the pearl white. I have seperately colored the other blue parts with a mix of Mettallic Blue and a flat Deep Sea Blue which came out a sort of Bluish Green hue almost.I laid a couple of coats of the same Metallic Blue over that for more of a Blue tint. I have to say I love how his gun turned out with dry brushing a Mettalic Gray over the flat Black. That Model Masters Flat Black is the Bees Knees! So this is kind of where I'm at now.Wating on a few other colors to be shipped for the glowing light effects like in the game.Hope you like and thanks for looking!
So,Finished up a lot of details.Maybe not so much my forte on smaller parts. The wheels have slightly raised lines where the red is suppose to be and I don't have a fine enough brush to make this clean enough. The only other thing I could think of in this situation is maybe to tape off the lines.Even doing that on these wheels i believe it wouldn't come out much better. This has been a big learning curve experience.Hoping to have Jazz done by next week, time allowing.
That's because I gave him a light Black wash coat which in some areas left a water mark residue.I still haven't put a clear coat on until all parts are finished and ready with details.I'm not sure if the wash coat is something most people do before the clear coat or after.Could be the reason why. This is afterall my 1st attempt.I think I will try the wash after clear coat next time.
Nah I don't think the washes hurt it at all. These WFC/FOC as well as most movie figures come out great with even dirty looking washes. They often have a somewhat dirty worn look on screen too. With some metal wear drybrushed on in the end, it should look fairly realistic. The details are coming out nice so far.
I present the final product: Pretty happy with the overall results. It was definitely a learning process and I was actually surprised that I was able to get it done by today. In any case, here is the final result of my version of the Jazz FoC.Any takers?Lol!
