I've made absolutely no progress other than to commit to a wood grain pattern for the bridge. It was hard to go back after the first pass with a wire brush over the surface. I have, however, drawn a few things during my twelve hour work days this week. A profile of how I want the bridge to swing: And half front view: So I could cheat a full forward view: Best I can figure, I need a skull in the fourteen inch wide range. This is going to put the entire bridge structure around thirty-eight inches tall to the top of the skull from the bottom of jaw. I have researched a full Halloween props but nothing has jumped yet... or not been made of concrete... or been available this time of year.
A five cent subject divider provides my window panes. Two hundred and ten inches of chain for my bridge. And the start of random barrels. Yes, it's all over the place but I haven't had time to work on bigger parts.
It took a week and half but I finally got around of my company wide "self isolation" to making a small amount of progress on a throne for the Sorceress. Immediately after placing the last piece, I realized I had opted to glue the throne in place before painting this was mostly to keep it centered while I placed the steps. And then opted to glue the stone work surrounding the throne in place as well. ... ... ... Yep. Leaning toward leaving the pieces as is. Fortunately, I had the foresight to turn over remove any of the printing on the sheet away from eyesight. Two and half more weeks, hopefully I will make some more effort on this. I'd at least like to get the throne room assembled and, more or less, laid out.
dude you are f'ing killing it here. have you ever thought about spending a little coin afterwards and casting that shit up. i think you could definitely be sitting on a little gold mine there.
Much appreciated, folks. Eh, ain't nothing special. Most folks could recreate what's been done so far with about thirty bucks in materials and a long weekend. Probably be better at it than me too. Besides, I could never get motivated to ever attempt mass production. Anyway, the floor of the first attempt at a throne room was taking a tailspin. Fortunately, I hadn't glued anything in except the floor. I've abandoned the box and gone back to foam bricks. I rushed the paint on this new floor and paid the price in a few places. But I'll be danged if I am going to make a third attempt of it.
I have done a little more to the throne, none of which can be seen in the first photo. But I am starting to work on the support structure for the floor below. I've also placed windows in the rear of the room and am working on the hallway behind. Good news is, I think the toxic fumes from the melting foam should be enough to kill the Hyperbolic Virus.
Lol. I checked this thread a good while back and you've made a lot of progress on it. This looks great! I can't wait to see it finished.
With any luck, the bulk of it will turn out a lot like this when painted. Options have been limited with the craft stores "nonessential" so I had to collect some Dollar Tree paint. Surprisingly, it ain't bad. Pours like water but when blended with Mod Podge, it's a pretty solid seal coat. I also been expanding on my lower floor. And these pieces don't go together directly as seen but just an idea of current size:
My GOD!!! That last shot is incredible. I bet the paint with the modge podge makes this whole thing very stable. You gonna weather the stone work with dry brush, maybe some moss effects in the corners and at ground level?
Well, still need to build a suitable frame and figure out the spools for the chains but this is where the idea is heading.
I really need to invest in an airbrush. Hand painting all this is time consuming. Did work on some stairs today though. Also found my skull for the Jawbridge... hopefully. The dimensions seem right anyway. Should be here by the end of the month.
I can't believe I haven't seen this thread yet! Incredible job! This has inspired a lot of project ideas from the dark recesses of my mind.
Well, it's not a perfect fit but it's certainly a strong foundation for my plans. And there's a very poor shot of Skeletor in there to give an idea of the size.
