Hello. I'm back with a quick look at another custom combiner team that I've been slowly working on since 2016 and that is also a part of my headcannon. Please keep in mind that NONE of these are finished yet but some are closer than others. There is one of these guys that I've done no work on yet. So as a result, I will not give my usual list of materials used in there creations. But alot of it is obvious Firstly, a quick look at the entire team in vehicule mode: The idea behind this team is thay they where amongst the few vaguely Autobot affiliated Cybertroniens to stay on Cybertron when the ARK left(during the events of Fall of Cybertron), alongside the Wreckers and a few others, in the vain hope to fend off Shockwaive's Decepticon forces to prevent them from fully taking over and aid any wayward survivors who could not make it in time. And after 4 Billon years, they are all that remains of the formerly vast Cybertron Police Force who used to number in at least 1 million if not more. Eventually, they where found by a VERY, VERY old bot by the name of Toolbox(another one of my OC'S) and where upgraded to be able to combine by him. FYI, Prowl, Ironfist and Cop-Out where also members of the CPF before the war. Eventually, they do wind up following Toolbox back to earth(where the rescaned into earthmodes) when an Autobot task force sent from Earth during season 3 came back to Cybertron in order to figure out a way to revive and bring back Metroplex to fight against the restored Triptycon in a new body. OH YEAH! Here is a quick look at what I have done so far for the regular Autotroopers(though since they are both identical, I'll show only one): Robot mode: The idea with these guys is what you would expect. They are the basic law enforcement officers, the grunts if you will, of the CPF. Vehicule mode: Next up is the more specialised Heavy Autotrooper(both are still identical): The idea with the Heavy Autotroopers is basically the exact same idea as modern-day SWAT teams. Vehicule mode: Next up is the teams tactical field coordinator, Backup: Robot mode: Given the current circumstances, he serves as the team's second in command under Checkpoint. Vehicule mode: And here is a picture of the least worked on membres of the team: The idea with them is that I will paint Trailbreaker into the G1 retconned A.T commander Checkpoint: Streetwise is going to get a slight repaint, though I will be keeping him mostly the same, into my OC By-Law. At this point, I would like to thank TFW2005's Skert for inspiring the chestpiece mod that I did to By-Law. To find out how it was done, follow the link to Skert's page. You will also find his AWESOME G2 Motormouth custom, which I used to start my own Motormouth. As for Groove, he will be given either the same A.T head or a new head altogether to make him into my Interceptor unit. And lastly, the combined mode, Pursuit! This is him in his standard mode. And that's all I've got for now. They still all need work. The list is as follows: 1. Paint Checkpoint 2. Finish By-Law 3. Get or make new head for Groove to make him a A.T or OC Interceptor. 4. Finish painting details for A.Ts 5. Moddify Pursuit's head 6. Aquire needed Reprolables 7. Aquire upgrade kits for hands/feet and MAYBE the Beelzeboss kit for CW Battle Core OP. That's still a good amount but not TOO laborious, specially in comparison to some of my other projects that I'm currently working on but still. I will update this thread with more as I go along and will properly give my list of materials as I complete the figures. Hope you all enjoy and see you next time!
seeing as how you have two rooks. you should use them as feet and make it a 7 bot combiner and the final member can pull a gun mode or something like the Seasons do with their extra member. looks good so far though!
agreed, then the name "Pursuit" would make even more sense because he could wheel down any combiner runaways!
You don't have to pay attention to my thoughts on this, but.... The OCs are basically our Autotrooper officers, right? It feels to me like you need another officer to make a 'vanilla' combiner using just the officers, as opposed to where you can make a combiner with just the generic troopers. Something a little more special like that should be considered, although I couldn't tell you what a fifth officer would be. The real trick is doing it without just simply re-creating Defensor.
Hello. I have a short and quick update for you all. I added extra details too the standard Autotroopers. I painted their crotchpieces and knees with extra details on there shoulders to closer emulate other Autotrooper toys: And here is the extra details in vehicule mode to make them pop a bit more like the real thing: That is it for now. I still have more work on these 2 still on top of all the others of this team. The next thing that I want to do with these 2 is get my hands on some sets of Siege Autotrooper Reprolables to help them resemble this a bit closer: That way, I can hybridize the look a bit and give them their designated numbers. I also need to get more CW Prowl Reprolables to touch up the ones that aren't holding up that great. After that, these guys will be done. I want to add extra updates in the next few days as I am currently adding extra details to Backup and preping the others to be worked on along with finishing up as much as possible another project I'm highly anticipating to show you. Hope you like it and see you then!
Hello. I'm back with yet another quick update. This time it's just a bit of extra touch-ups for Backup and finally moded his combiner mode head. To start with, I added alot of extra details to his vehicule mode's backplate to make it a bit more practical. I also sanded and repainted the black on the side and back to make it ALOT smoother and cleaner. Next I added a bunch of extra details in robot mode. I sanded his chest to get rid of the windows as much as possible as he is not suposed to resemble Optimus that much, but you can still see them. I'll try to fix that later. As you can see, I also added details to his arms. And lastly, like I said, Pursuit's head now looks like it should. The antenna is bendable. I added vent detail and touched up his crotchpiece. And with his new Perfect Effects hands and feet: He looks much better! These upgrade kits really make a difference. So that's all for the time being. I still have a nice way to go for this project, and even Backup himself is not fully finished. I still need to get the CW Ultra Magnus or B.C OP convertion Reprolables to match up his windows and add some details, maybe get one of the upgrade kits to enhance his truck or combiner mode or both, make him a gun and a trailer, like one of those mobile command centers as he is the field coordinator of the team, and touch up his robot mode headsculpt. On other news, I finally got my hands on more masking tape, molding putty and some paint thanks to some restrictions being lifted where I live. I wasn't able to walk through my local municipal park to get to the large shopping disrict where the hardwear stores are, but now I can! So now I can continue on with more of my projects. This also means that I FINALLY have enough masking tape to start spraypainting Checkpoint! And the newest membre of the team, Speedtrap. But I'll talk more about that next time. Until then, enjoy!
Hello everyone, I've got another small update. This time I've begun working on the leader of the Autotroopers, Checkpoint. More specifically, I'm trying to make his vehicule mode resemble a GMC Sierra 2020 1500. Granted, it will eventually be a modified police variant. I still need to adjust the front grill as I didn't make it wide enough, and also adjust the back bumper. After that I'll be able to start painting him.
This team looks wonderful so far, I've always had a fondness for the Autotroopers. Once you're finished with these guys, you ought to make a team of combining Vehicons to counter them.
Hello. Got a quick update here. I finished molding and etched the details on Checkpoint's vehicule mode front. Took me a few days but I got there. I also added more putty to fill in some gaps in his side and the rear bumper. He now resembles a GMC Sierra 2020 much more. That's it for the time being. I'll be able to start painting him now. I also have the stickers to give him his caution stripes. Hope you enjoy and see you next time!
Hello everyone! It's beem a bit since I uploaded something, so I figured I'd do an update on a project that I've been working on just as slowly. And, holy crap! I think 3 years is long enough for this one! Though this will be just another small update, I think it's a fairly important one. So, what have I done this time? Well, firstly, I made the decision to take the pickup truck that was going to be Checkpoint and make him into an OC instead because I want to take a crack at making a much more accurate Checkpoint later down the line in voyager scale. I haven't thought of new name yet, but it will come to me. And because he isn't going to be Checkpoint anymore, I decided to add a shoulder missile to him using a spare Classics Prowl missile I had lying around for years(I used the body for another custom I did back in my earlier customizing days). I installed it cutting out some plastic from under the hood and pinning it in: It still folds down and still has clearance in vehicule mode. And for some odd reason, I spraypainted the vehicule shell white in between all of this: I also started on the roof lights by drilling a hole on the roof: Then I just took the leftover rooflight from the same Classics Prowl as the missile and pinned it to a strip of styrene: For transformation purposes, it will be able to rotate. Now, with all of the white spraypainting done and sealed with clearcoat and having painted the front end of the truck black, I wanted to add missing detail to the front grill and bumper to really make it ressemble the GMC Sierra 2020. Having etched it i the black paint really, REALLY helped! It isn't perfect, but once I paint it all properly and add the front bumper, some of the flaws will be fixed. For anyone whom is curious how I the etching, I have an old hobbie knife with a blunt blade and a tip that snapped off years ago, so it's squared off. That's what I used to etch this stuff. So, what does all of this amount to do far? This: There is, unfortunatly, a little yellowing on the arm piece, but that started immideatlly after I applied the paint. I'm thinking it has something to do with the plastic that I sanded down, but I'm gonna paint that section anyway. Do no big deal. So that will do it for now in this update. Short and sweet. I am looking forward to continuing this project more given all that I still have to do, but for the time being, I'm going to go back to focusing on my 3 ActionRemastered customs that I'm simultaneously working on. As well ae 2 other custom projects. Yep, I went off of the deep end again. So much for trying to streamline my self imposed workload I hope you all enjoyed and I will see you all next time.
Looks fantastic! If you want some names, here's a few ideas Jay-walk Outpost Badge Lighter (in reference to police lights) Holster Either way, I'm excited to see where this project goes!
I wanted to thank you for the name suggestions. I've been putting a bit of work into this project recently and I'll bee posting it by this weekend. You also helped me pick out a name for another figure that I will be working on for this project. 2 for one! Thank you very much. I was seeiously racking my brain on these ones.
Hello everyone! It's been a while since I'd touched this thread, but I did not forget about it. As a matter of fact, I've come with an update! And a pretty good one for this project! Let's goooo! Firstly, I want to thank DeathsTreads77 for helping me with picking out the new name of the figure that was supposed to be Checkpoint. His name will now be Badge. And here is what I have done so far from the last time: I painted in the etched in grill details qith metallic Silver, the GMC logo and painted on the new rear lights and GMC logo to match a GMC Sierra 2020 1500 as much as possible, which is exactly what I'm going for: And I of course painted on the black and blue. The last thing I did for him(for the time being) was to add the Siege Autotrooper stickers to his wheels to give him that Autotrooper look: I also added an E.D.C sticker. I still have some work to do on him. His deco is not finished in either mode and I want to make his CW hand/foot gun into a hard cover, along with gining him his missing Autotrooper emblems. But I need to wait to buy the extra sticker sets needed. Next thing I did was continue a touch of work on my second Autotrooper Captain, By-law. All I did was remove the pins that swivel the legs for transformation, swap said legs around and trim some plastic from the inner shin so the knees now fit in vehicule mode: I also shaved off a touch of plastic from the inside of the front hood so that it now clips to the inner chest and added a long pin for stability(this prevents the hood from drooping and keeps it at an angle): The problem I now have is that, I don't really know how to explain it, but it looks a bit off. Part of the problem is, the more I think about it, is that the tires interfere with the arms' possablility and the chest is just too wide. It's just too goofy looking in person. So I will need to find a way to deal with that. And here are my 4 Commanders for the time being. Alot of work still needs to be done on the majority of them. Not to mention that I have not started any work on Groove od Mirage at all. BTW, this is where I need to thank DeathsTreads77 for the second name suggestion. Groove is going to be a character named Holster. As for Mirage, well, who was Checpoint's partener in the Enegon Repaint 2 pack?(Hint hint). But now, it's time to move on tho the real meat of this update: the Autotroopers are done. But before I show you, let me share a crucial mod I did for the Swattroopers, with the assistance of my Vanilla CW Rook: See this arm panel on Rook? Well... I figured out a fix for the blight on this otherwise prestine mold. I'd been wanting to do this for yearssss and it feels GREAT! Here's what I did(P.S: I will be posting this particular mod on a completely independent thread for the sake of it not remaining burried in this one so it can be looked up individually): Firstly, I trimmed off a bit of plastic from behind the panel: Right: OG Left: Modded Then I gently removed the panel and sanded down the underarm: Then I took some hinges: And sanded and glued them to a piece of styrene and the panel: Then I glued this to the underarm and voilà: I also trimmed some plastic from the back of the legs to account for the extra mass: Right: OG Left: Modded This prevents the middle wheels to be pressed down and making the vehicule mode uneven. And I did the same mod to the Swattrooper's backpacks that I did with Pyre(from my Pyro custom) where I unpegged the backpack and made a clip: I knocked out the pin, cut out a groove in the clip and readjusted the pin to make a proper clip: And I panted some highlights in the inner back: Then, for my regular Autotroopers, I widdend the shoulder clip points to alow the shoulder missile launchers that came with the Siege Autotrooper Reprolables set to peg in: The last and obvious thing I did was to finish the paint and sticker jobs. SO, what did all of that yield? Autotroopers: Unit 04 and Unit 25 Function: Patrol and pursuit units. Robot modes: They are handpainted with: Citadel Wazdakka Red Citadel Macragge Blue Citadel White Scar Citadel Abaddon Black Citadel Wazdakka Red and Fire Dragon Bright mixed to make the orange for vizors. Testors Metallic Silver Testors Metallic Red Base molds used are CW Prowl with Shapeways Autotrooper head. Reprolables used are CW Prowl, CW Scout class Groove, Siege Autoroopers and E.D.C Sticker sheet. Missile launchers are from the Siege Autotrooper sticker set. Vehicule modes: And here they are with the missile launchers: And now for the heavy boys: Swattroopers: Unit 07 and Unit 84 Function: Enforcement and tactical fortifications Robot modes: Handpainted with: Citadel Abaddon Black Citadel White Scar Citadel Caledor Sky Testors Flat Red Testors Metallic Silver Base molds are CW Rook with Shapeways Autotrooper head. Reprolables are CW Rook, CW scout class Groove and Siege Autotrooper. Vehicule modes: And as for the backpack mod: Heavy re-enforcements on the way! And I will need to cut it off here for the time being. I want to add comparison picks to the original Rook and Prowl plus a few more pictures, but I'm reaching the count limit. So I will post said pictures soon on this thread. OH! I almost forgot! The Unit's individual numbers do have a meaning each: Unit 04 is a reference to the OG Autotrooper(and I believe it's the most famous designation as well), which is why I painted the visors and goggles orange. Unit 25 is just the day I painted it on(January 25th, which was coincidentaly my birthday and I like the number 25 in general) Unit 07 is a reference to the year both Transformers 2007 AND Transformers Animated came out(I looked it up, and I swear I thought Animated came out in 2008), which is another reason I left the visor blue. Unit 84 is, very obviously, a reference to the year 1984. Do I need to explain why? Working on this has re-invigurated me to this project. I'm looking forward to working on it more because I'm nowhere near done! I am putting some serious though into making a few more Prowl mold Autotroopers(because I suspect that the Rook mold will be VERY expensive(it's a reeeally good mold)). And I just realized I missed a trick by not making a Unit 10 or 12 for WFC and FOC Damnit! Until then, I hope you enjoy and see you next time! Until then, I hope
Hello, everyone. I'm back to this thread a bit sooner then I excpected. But what can I say, I'm having fun with thia one recently. And this time, I finished another member. And this is one of my 4 lieutenants to boot. However, as always, I want to show you what I dis since the last time. I also want to give special thanks to DeathsTreads77 for giving me the inspiration for the name I wound up using. So, picking up from where I left off the last time: I wanted to moddify the base Trailbreaker head, so I wound up adding a styrene tube and junk plastic to emulate a flashlight and communication gear grom tactical helmets used by swat teams: Nothing fancy. I just finished it off by painting the visor silver and adding dark blue paint to resemble kevlar. Next up: I wanted to take the base mold's unique claw-like hand/foot gun and turn it into a back box for vehicule mode(I don't know what these box attatchments for pickups are called. Let me know if you do.) I also wanted to make sure it could still retain all of it's weapon functionnalities. So I just built styrene and hinges around it, using a headless CW Ironhide for a stand in: Then I just finished the whole thing off with paint apps and stickers. So, without further adieu, I give to you my first Autotrooper lieutenant, Badge! Function: Swattrooper Commander and tracker. Motto: If freedom and peace have a too heavy a price, I'll help you pay it and ease it's burden. When the going get's tough, Badge steps in. Prior to the great war, Badge was already proving himself as a viable candidate for a command post at the central police hub in Iacon. But, he always turned it down, seeing himself as much more usefull as a Swattrooper reinforcement officer in his home city of Uraya. And he had already built up a great rappor with the locals as a fairly chipper bot with a get-it-done attitude. and didn't really want to risk loosing what he had already gained in his tigh-nit community. He thougth leadership should go to those who actively wanted it, like the famous veteran and 5th in command of all the Autotrooper forces, Checkpoint. But when the war broke out, and the Autotrooper ranks where swiftly reduced by half across Cybertron in 1 fell swoop at the hands of a highly coordinated Decepticon attack spearheaded by the Dreads, that would all change. As the war draged on and on, and more Autotroopers, now conscripted as emergency soldiers for the Autobots, fell, Badge felt the need to step up. For the greater good of his team. Now on Earth with the few surviving Autotroopers left, along with By-law, Holster, Speedtrap and Backup, their Commanding Officer Checkpoint, and joined up with the newly minted E.D.C, as the new direct commander of the Swattroopers, per Checkpoint's request, he will see his duties through thouroughly. They are amongst the thoughest and hardiest of the Autoroopers, and their firepower will bring down any crime and injustice. As long as he still functions, if someone is in need of his services, he will gladly ablidge. Robot mode: He is both spary and handpainted with: Rustoleum Mat White Rustoleum Semi-gloss Clear coat Citadel Abaddon Black Citadel Incubi Darkness Citadel Ulthuan Grey Citadel Fire Dragon Bright Citadel Caledor Blue Citadel Yriel Yellow Testors Flat Red Testors Metallic Gold Testors Metallic Silver Gundam Marker Metallic Green Gundam Marker Panel lining fine tip pen Base mold is CW Trailbreaker. Extra parts are a spare Universe Prowl shoulder missile launcher, a Dollar Store truck crash bar bumper and styrene. Reprolabels are from CW Prowl, CW Scout Class Groove, Siege Autotrooper set. Extra gun is a spare pistol from a ROTF Brawn with the clear parts painted with Testorsetallic Silver. Vehicule mode: I did everything I could to emulate the GMC Sierra 2020 that I based this resculpt on. I showed different angles of the real vehicule several times in this thread. I got inspired for the K-9 marking by this picture I found online: I thought it would be fun. Here is a closer look at the back piece/capture claw/4-barreled cannon: And yes, he knows how to use it: Here he is with his 2 subordenates, Unit 84 and Unit 07. Bring in the heavies! And of course, Badge can scramble city, so here he is in leg mode(honestly, his weakest configuration): It makes Pursuit a bit stuby and for whatever reason, the combiner ratchet keeps missing one of the knotches, so Pursuit is a bit wobbly. Clearly, some adjustments will be kneeded further down the line. I only just noticed when I took the pictures. Here he is in arm mode with his unique capture claw: In this configuration, Pursuit gains a very powerfull vice-grip. I though of maybe adding a cable-launcher gimmick à la Gundam'd Psycom system, but I haven't done it yet. And lastly, leading the charge: So, that's 1 more knotch in this project's belt. But, boy oh boy, do I still have some work to do. The final 3 lieutenants, Checkpoint himself, possibly some extra membres and some on-off membres as well. This wasn't the post I was expecting to make, but I'm happy with how it all turned out. I'm not sure who will be next for the project, but I'm looking for ward to findkng out and sharing it with you all. I hope you all enhoyed and I will see you next time!
Glad I could help inspire the names. I really like the lore and designs of these guys. Keep up the good work!
