Hello, everyone! This is a custom I've been making over the summer, and this thread will chart any further progress I make on it. But first, who is Arcadia? Arcadia is an original character I am designing based on, well, this custom. She's a mercenary who turns into a Galaga arcade machine. Her partner, Kilobite (an upcoming Ravage repaint), turns into the machine's motherboard. I won't get any further into her character. After all, this thread is about the custom. This is the fan mode I'm using as a basis for the custom. For anyone following along, I just popped off Soundwave's kibble chunks. Afterwards, I built a part in Microsoft 3D builder to tab into the spare backpack tabs, which I later printed out. I shortly did the same with some parts for the marquis. After all of those parts printed out, here they are on the figure again. The next step is to create the boards on the side of the arcade machine. My plan for these is to remove the kneecap areas with a Dremel tool, then make a 3D printed set of parts that fold up along the shin. I also plan to cut the side panels so they don't get in the way of the marquis. And here's as far as I've gotten. I'm currently designing the new shin parts. Get back to you later!
UPDATE: I have made a sticker sheet for Arcadia, to be printed out when the custom is done. For any who wish to do the same, but with a different arcade machine (I myself plan to do a polybius version some time in the future), I have included a template as well. (If you're wondering, the reason the side art is included four times is so that you can have it in robot mode as well as in alt mode.
Unfortunately, no. Something about that feels wrong to me, since the actual screen ends up completely visible on the side of the leg.
1: This is incredibly clever and I can't wait to see where you go with it... 2: But it's spelled "marquee" - a "marquis" is sorta like a count or a duke. 3: And yes to a Polybius version... either that or
UPDATE: Working on the first version of the leg panel. Printing out the first version to test the tabs, then I'll be adding the slope and the hinge.
Next version of the part seems to have worked! Now I have to add a hinge joint for the second part. We're getting close...
Printing out what could be the final version of this print tonight! After that... I've got some painting to do.
Unfortunately for that arcade machine, it's just too weirdly shaped to fit into the Arcadia build template. If i was hypothetically an entire company making an entire toyline out of licensed transforming arcade machines (which, who knows), it'd be fun, but it's too weird for the specific scenario I find myself in.
Damn if that isn't true. Immediately after a new figure is revealed I'm already looking at the previous figure thinking about how I can turn it into someone else.
