I was watching Back to School the other day and realized how interesting it is that RDJ became this huge big time actor and Zabka didn't. Him and Macchio I thought were huge actors in the 80s and yet RDJ is the one making 75 mill a picture.

I could be wrong about this, but Zabka was missing the "leading guy" presence that other actors in the '80s such as Michael J. Fox, Matthew Broderick, Judd Nelson, and Anthony Michael Hall had. Also, you have to admit that his acting back then was a bit stiff, not to mention that the blond-haired, blue-eyed pretty boy looks were no longer being favored for leading roles.

The other theory is that Zabka is way too humble to go big-time like RDJ did.

Maybe it was because of the roles he chose, playing the bully, that type-casted him into never getting the good guy lead. Judging on Cobra Kai, he's clearly a good actor, just kind of surprising he didn't make it further, same as Macchio. Ralph was in Karate Kid, Outsiders, My Cousin Vinny, and then he did minor cameos and guest spots on random tv shows. It's just a random observation really as to the world of Hollywood.

Here's a good analysis on why the 1984 film is still superior. It even points out some crucial moments we never noticed.

Posted this on Cobra Kai Facebook about Ali coming back:

I think that she will bring Johnny and Daniel together. They started to accept each other after dinner. Now both are hurting after what happened. Daniel's surrogate son used his karate to seriously hurt someone. Johnny had his surrogate son injured by his actual estranged son. He's doubly pained. Now he has his dojo stolen from him.

My prediction the two talk more and actually come to terms. They both see Kreese as needing to be stopped. IIRC Ali married a doctor. Her husband helps heal Miguel. Daniel helps teach Johnny more peaceful karate and they work to stop Kreese. Kreese gets a business partner in... Terry Silver. Daniel gets help from two formal enemies. Chozen and karate bad boy Mike Barnes. Chozen is trying to regain honor after his uncle changed his ways. He had his life spared by Daniel and is looking for redemption. Barnes was screwed by Silver/Kreese and missed out on finances. He was promised part of a franchise, but was forced to take a poor strategy. This caused them to lose and he lost a secure financial future and injured his reputation/skills.

Or Daniel gets help from someone Myagi told him about once and we get Next Karate Kid show up.

I did learn a valuable lesson today about too much of a good thing.. I watched both seasons from start to finish today and I have to say it was basically perfection. I tell you this though.. all that all at once left me wrecked in the end of the last episode. I don't know what exactly anyone saying for the spoiler time being up here or not, but I felt it was a masterwork in later timed sequel. There is still so much to tell for all the characters I really can't wait for season 3. Both the kids and the adults had so much character development and the source material was lovingly respected, I was beginning to question if that was something anyone in the entertainment industry was even capable of anymore. Seeing Johnny given new depth and seeing the story through the other side of the lens was refreshing.

The episode with the extra special cameos.. in season two was emotionally crushing in the end. Giving Johnny that character depth and then extending as much of at they could to the certain other original characters in that episode was something special. I am sure there was flaws in there to be picked up on, and I probably sound like I'm blowing smoke at how good it was, but I'm just so.. in shock to see such respect given to the audience and the source material I can't bring myself to ding it. Well ok, I will ding for one thing, I was getting kind of impatient with the build and crush every time it looked like Daniel and Johnny were finally going to make peace. Maybe that was a side effect of watching too much at once, but by the last time I was getting a little irritated.

The music, the scenery, the dialogue, the camera work, it was just beautiful.

    Late to the party.

I watched the 4 KKs in the past week (really wish I didn't see the Hilary Swank and falcon one, but I digress) in preparation for this.

I saw the first 5 eps of S1 last night and.......wow....this show is amazing. More than it has any right to be for being based on a crappy (karate-wise) movie from the 80s.

I felt like a lot of first posters in this thread that crapped on this when I first heard of it, but I'm hooked. I put myself in a conference room at work for 10 minutes to finish ep 5 and looking forward to watching 2 more eps on the train ride home.

No one is completely a villain and no one is really a good guy. Really great so far. Worth the praise.

    Just finished S2 last night.

I'll just echo everyone else's statements, this show is amazing. I'm stunned....STUNNED how much I enjoyed this show.

Eps like with Johnny finding about an "app". :lolol

And the last ep's fight scene. Wow....

Now I'm stuck waiting for season 3....

I saw Johnny last year. I'd probably go to his panel again since Kreese is there and I hadn't seen the show yet when I went to the panel.
