Do you think ROTF will join that list? For some this is an easy vote because they didn't like the first movie, or because they are not impressed with the movie storylines overall, etc. But for me, I loved the first one and it's flaws, but I'm guessing from the trailer that ROTF will rank higher for me. What say you?

Well, it couldn't really be any worse.

 

I think it depends on which aspects of the film we are talking about.

The effects should be better because ILM has an excellent track record of topping themselves and Micheal Bay also has a good track record of topping himself in the visual department.

The story is still a tough call. Sometimes Kruger and Orci really manage to fire on all gears like they did with Star Trek and Fringe, but other times their writing just comes up lacking. Fingers crossed we get the really good Kruger and Orci this time.

Character I'm not so sure on because the Bay films tend to really lack in the character department. So it's still a question of if we will get better Decepticons and better Autobots than we got the first time.

For me it's really a tough call on if it will be better or not. There were things that I really enjoyed about the first film but there were also things that I really disliked as well. So it comes down for me to if they can pull off more of the stuff I did like and less of the stuff that caused me not to enjoy the film.

Oh and I'm a Decepticon fan so I could just be doomed to not like this film, so hard to find Hollywood films where the good guys win but the bad guys still manage to come off as cool these days.

Actually one of the guys on my ignore list in this topic has probably already said it.

Anyways yes, it will be better than the first. More robot time being the most obvious reason.

 

I voted No. I don't think it'll be better I think it'll be about the same. I feel like there are too many new characters introduced which means we won't be able to really see enough of anyone.

 

It has to be. The first one isn't that big of a hurdle to overcome. If for some odd reason the second film doesn't do as well as the first, and the critics don't like it as much, it's a crying same and bordering on a heinous crime.

I like bits and pieces of the first film, but fuuuuuck, it's nothing super great.

 

I think overall it'll be more entertaining then the first one.

realistically.. the first film didn't exactly have a great plot or acting or character development or anything, what was good about it was quite simply that it featured real life transformers. and ROTF has more of them, done better. so on that basis, much better that the first one.

I hope so too... but I have a feeling the answer is NO. There are just aspects of this film that rub me the wrong way. I want to reallllly like it. I guess we'll wait and see.
